Different concept

The following is my rating Barbeque Nation. We headed to Barbeque nation for an office party this week.

Ambience: The ambience of the place is very good. Tables very nicely laid out, soothing interiors. There is a place in every table for placing the barbeque over the fire. The people who were serving us were very courteous, and they explained the concept of the whole restaurant. Only negative thing being that the place can get really crowded

Food: They serve you unlimited barbeques to start with. Some of them like the roasted potatoes ad the cottage cheese barbeque were good. The others like the corn and the veg-fruit barbeque were pretty ordinary. Most people around seemed to like only the first two ones. The buffet part consisted of a soup, different salads with strange combination of ingredients like the corn pomegranete salad etc. There was lasagne and pasta which were pretty decent. There was the usual rice, dal and two gravies and rotis.
The food was a pretty normal fare I should say. They said that there were 20 varieties of desserts, but we could find some 4-5 of them.

Value for money: Good for office parties, as the ambience is right for it. Not a place to hang out with your spouse or a friend. Priced ok for the ambience and the variety.

In short, decent place, nothing great or bad about it, but yes, nice concept!

Decent experience

I had been to Gufha with a couple of friends for Dinner. The following is my review about the place

Ambience: The ambience of Gupha is pretty good and different. The place has been designed like a cave, with stuctures of snakes and flames kept all over the place. The whole restaurant is dimly lit. The people who serve are dressed up like hunters(Reminded me of shikari shambu of Tinkle fame). When thay bring starters to your table, they accompany it with sparklers(yeah! the ones which we light during Diwali) It was a nice ambience, But I dont understand how it fits in, or is remotely connected to the "Afghan" ambience, they claim it is. But for those who dont drink or do not consume non-veg food, the air is full of those scents, beware.

Food quality: The food was decent. Nothing bad or good about it. I felt the food was pretty normal stuff which you can find at most decent restaurants. I was sad that they didnt have anything really different to offer, though their menu card had segments named differently and contain exaggerated explanations about its contents(which every restaurant seems to have started doing nowadays). The tomato dhania shorba was a good bet. Starters were pretty decent. The 'tokri' which was a basket of different Indian breads did satisify the tastes of different people. The gravies were also decent, but had slightly too much oil/butter. We finished off with a dessert called 'Baklava', which turned ou to be nothing but, as my friend quipped, a bakery product which has some kind of a sweet stuffing inside(which ideally costs around 5-7 bucks). We were served the same thing cut into 5-6 small pieces with some jam on top, and charged us Rs 90/- for it, and the same with a small scoop of vanilla icecream cost Rs165/-. But otherwise, pretty decent food.

Value for money: Definetely not total value for money. Pretty expensive for the kind of stuff they offer. I generally never mind paying more, if the food is really authentic, healthy as well as tasty. One could probably pay a little extra for the ambience.

Good food!

I have been to this restaurant a couple of times now. The very first time I went there, was when I happenend to see this small place when I was passing through Koramangala.

From the first visit to now, the quality of food and service has not changed a bit, and it is really good! The only thing is that, it has become pretty crowded and noisy nowadays.

The best part about this restaurant, which I have not found in most others is that, even though the restaurant serves both Veg and Non-veg food, Vegetarians will feel very comfortable with eating their kind of food, without any issues. My friends who have tasted the non-veg spread here were also pretty happy with it!

They have a lunch buffet as well, which costs around 130 bucks + taxes, and the spread which they give for the buffet is surely worth it! My favourties there are the Vegetable rampuri biriyani, which contains the perfect amount of spices which is required and cooked to exactly the right extent. The food is good on your stomach too. All the gravies and bread varieties are also good, and offer a sumptuous meal. Dont forget to sign off with a special rampuri nimbu pani , which tickles every bit of your taste buds and leave you with a feeling of fulfillment.
A vegetarian meal for 2 might cost anywhere between 300 and 450 bucks.
Thumbs up to this place!

Not worth it!

Being a true South Indian, was really excited on hearing a place like this, and along with my husband really wanted to try this out! We thought, we had found a pretty good south indian restaurant serving good food.
Here comes a very frank review of the place pointing out both the good and bad features.

One good thing about the place is the ambience and decor. The decor is very posh and creative(But unfortunately has not even a bit to do with anything related to the South Indian culture, which alienates the type of food served and the atmospehere). The decor is very nice, but just seen alone.
We went for the lunch buffet there!
The food was normal, nothing extremely good or bad about it. The aapam was good. Then was the normal rasam, sambhar, veg curry(pretty ordinary). Parota, the normal variety. Curd and pickle. The food was definetely NOT AT ALL WORTH 175 bucks +taxes!
We ended up spending 800 bucks for a very ordinary south indian meal for 4!
My feeling is that this place is not for south indians to try out their favourite south indian food! It is for the people from the north who do not have much idea about south indian food, to go and try. But even for that, I would recommend some other good food places.
If you want good food and value for money, I would not recommend this place
