Ranga Rao Road (Near Shankar Mutt), Shankarpuram, Bangalore

Rated: Excellent

Excellent Idli Chatni

This fast food was rated no. 1 in Idli vada Chutney + Coffee competition conducted by Times of India. Idli, Chutney along with butter is excellent and the prices are very economical. Kharabath is also very good. Carrot is put in Vada which makes it even more tasty.

The fast food is not in a busy area - hence cars can be parked nearby. Lot of people take the food and have it in their cars.

Great Food

This is just a Fast Food without any service area almost crowded - even the owners of this restaurant had not expected so much crowd - but the owner is reluctant to make any alterations hence opened sister hotels Roti Ghar and UD with service area in Jayanagar.

This was the first Darshini in the Darshini's history - Then started the Darshini Culture all over Bangalore and even in other cities of Karnataka.

Coming to food, just South Indian is available here and almost all the food they prepare is excellent. Everything is very economical and hygenic. This was the first fast food with Sterilizing facility. Some of the food which is unique here is Shavige Bath, Chandrahara prepared only on Sundays and awesome Masala Dosa, I feel even better than neighbouring Vidyarthi Bhavan and even more cheaper.

Must visit, but problem is for parking the car - better to go by 2 wheeler since DVG road is very crowded.

Excellent South Indian Food

This restaurant serves both North Indian and South Indian Food and is from Upahara Darshini Group. South Indian food is even now excellent in Upahara Darshini in the nearing DVG road. There was no service hall in Upahara Darshini and they didn't wanted to make any mods - So they opened Roti Ghar with Darshini, Service Hall and Party Hall on the busiest Gandhi Bazaar Main Road.

The restaurant is very hygenic. Earlier they used to give food in use and throw plastic plates and plastic tumblers. Now, steel and ceramic plates are used and everything is sterilized in hot water. They provide Amul sealed butter and Maggi sealed sauce packet.

Fast food is very economical. Dosa costs 11 rupees, 1 Plate Poori Costs Just 7 rupees, Idli Costs Just 7 rupees and coffee is just 3 rupees in a very big cup. Sweets are also very good, economical and fresh compared to nearby Venkateshwara Sweet Mart, Arya Bhavan and Anand Sweets. Thatte idli is very tasty.

Service area is expensive. North Indian food is average in taste. A North Indian Meal in A/C Service area costs only 55 rupees - which is a good deal in North Indian Food.

Was Good But Loosing Charm

This restaurant was very good for Dosas and Rava Vada. But, nowadays, the size of the Dosa is too small - it is of the size Set Masala given in some restaurants and charges 17 rupees - which is expensive compared to other hotels in the neighbourhood such as Roti Ghar where it is just 11 rupees.

Dosa is too oily , but tasty though. Not as tasty as it used to be - May be they lost the chef who used to prepare such good Dosas.
