Nahar Heritage, 14, St. Mark's Road, St. Marks Road, Bangalore

Poor

Very ordinary

Tried out the buffet here and the food was quite ordinary. The selection too did not seem to gel well. There was a lonely veg noodles that did not have anything to go with it. There was cabbage vadas and snake gourd theeyal and yam poriyal hmnn very strange as these were supposed to go with north-Indian rotis. The AC was not working and the service (well what is that)

Good

One of the best vegetarian food by far

Don't go here expecting exotic Mughlai fare that the likes of Samarkand serve, but for real light, nourishing and tasty vegetarian food, very few places beat Ramana's. The hot phulkas here are really soft, light and fluffy (as mentioned before, it just melts in your mouth.) While the food includes the traditional fares, a few do manage some spunk. We tried the baghara baingan, tava vegetables and kairee paneer. We loved all of it. Specially recommend the kairee paneer which is a nice blend of sour with mild spice. And on the spice front, we tried the gobi manchurian here and were pleasantly surprised to find it mild enough for my daughter to enjoy (but damn tasty as well), so the food is definitely kid friendly. The mild spices and low amount of oil food is definitely a plus in my books though some people may find it too homely for their day out experience. But hey if you enjoy good vegetarian food and want a place that you can keep going back to, this is definitely one...

Excellent

Good for vegetarians as well

For a long time I had been eyeing Nanking, but being vegetarian, I did not have the courage to go there as it was touted as being very authenticly Chinese and hence not veg-friendly.

Well, I braved it and guess what, this place is just awesome. The decor is tasteful. The service prompt and not in your face, and the best part is the food. This was just the best Chinese food I had had in Bangalore. Ask for suggestions as the menu does not list everything they have to offer, and go with the suggestions.

We had momos which was just the right size with a mustard sauce that was lip-smacking. Followed by noodles and clap-pot rice which was so good. The best dish was a 'soy-bean chicken' (which is veg btw) in hot garlic sauce for which the tofu was done so right. This is a place that has to be on top of your list if you are looking for good Chinese in this city...

Excellent

Masala tea and momos

Tried that once and got hooked to it. Absolutely recommend this place if you love tea the way most Indians do...

Average

Actually it's just a two star place

The extra star is for the environment. It's an open air restaurant with lots of place for kids to play and leave you alone to enjoy your food. Well that is only if you're able to enjoy passable Punjabi fare. Well to be fair, some of the starters they offer have potential, but the main course meals are mostly a let down, especially the vegetarian ones. Also service on weekends does show that the place is stretched to say the least. At times the place plays host to companies that have conferences on their premises, and if the company has a party going on, the serenity of the surroundings will also get spoiled. Overall it is an OK place for north-bangaloreans who are anyway starved for good north Indian food, but it is a passable compromise at the best.
