Excellent

Take 5 - 5 Spice

Thankyou Shamz for introducing me to a great eatery just next door. Its literally a stones throw away from my house.
In a span of two weeks, I have been there three times already and I think will have to go there atleast 8-10 times more to try out their complete spread.

Paisa wasool - 100%
Quality : Out of the world.

Only things negative are the long waits outside - on a weekend it could be as long as 1 hour waiting time.

Yesterday we tried - Mongolian Pot Rice, Tapiyaki Chicken and a plate of delicious prawns.

The range for vegetarians is un-ending.

Our family of four came out fully content in Rs.490.00.

Down-side of the evening, there were 4 girls sitting on the next table who made everyones life miserable by there non-stop loud yapping. It disturbed everyone , while the waiters looked at them helplessly. Can we have a Ban on loud talking as well in restaurant.

Loud talking would have been acceptable, but the language they used was full of words, I was not comfotable listening to with my daughters around, so this was a bad family experience.

I will not blame the restaurant for this. Its a matter of values and culture of these families. owner of Surabhi of Doordarshan fame would hang his head in shame if he heard, how the girls talked in public these days!

Heaven in Mumbai-Kashmiri experience

If there is a heaven on Earth - this is it ! this is it!! this is it!!! jehangir said this about Kashmir.

Kong Poush makes you say these words again with the Mumbai context.

I recently visited Kashmir on an official trip and was introduced to some exotic cuisine (mainly non-veg) there, and was looking forward to my next trip when I could experience this again.

And now we have Kong Poush - just a walk away from my house. It is authentic Kashmiri food at its best.

The entrance is small and it looks like a small eatery from outside, but then you are shown the way up the stairs where you feel as if you have moved into some movie set of Kashmir. Shikara's , baithaks, and very comfortable seating arrangement.

KONG POUSH means a saffron Flower, and we did justice to the saffron by ordering a Kong Poush Batta - saffron flavoured rice(more on that later)

They have a spread of both veg and non-veg thaals (thaali ) and also the wazwaan - a 36 course served in Muslim marriages in Kashmir.

We ordered Goshtaba- a dish made in curd gravy (yellowish-whitish) with pounded meat balls - it is a blissfully experience as you bite into the meatballs. Then we ordered Kong Poush Kokur - kokur means chicken and this was made in a red gravy . We savoured this with crisp lacchedaar parathas and naans, followed by the saffron falvoured rice. All this tastes so good that you want the tastes of these to linger in your mouth forever.

For veg eaters - My friend ordered a Veg Thaal - and the quantities were just enough for a satisfying experience I was told. The veg thaali had raajmah, Paneer , Lotus stem palak dish, tsok wangun (brinjals cooked in a tamarind gravy ) which reminded my friend - 'Maa ka banaaya hua ahcaari baingan'

We finished our food with indulging into sweets with Phirni and Shufta(rich dry fruits , coconuts, raisins, dates and khus-khus cooked in a sweet syrup served hot) - we actually mixed the Phirni and shufta and the combination was awesome.

Don't worry if you will be able to digest all this or not, because a hot cup of kehwa (kashmiri aromatic green tea with cinnamon, cardamom, walnuts, almonds and saffron) in the end does the magic.

We already have listed out the new dishes we will try during our next visit - which will be SOON.

The staff is very courteous and if you want to have a splendid kashmiri food experience - I will recommend you to go and try this place out.

Price: A good Kashmiri experience average - Rs.350/- per head.

Awful

Sorry - No Value for Money here

Samy Sosa - Make-Sicken

I went to this place recently and would say that it is not worth going there a second time.

Service : Poor
Quantity : Very little
Price : Steep

Please don't call this place mexican, apart from the pseudo-mexican ambience created there is nothing mexican about this place.

Good

Good Food but beware

I have been a regular at Mahesh, and the food is always great here.
Only warning I will give, beware of the over-selling tricks they use. This has happened on two occasions with me.
Try ordering a crab or a regular lobster dish from the fixed price menu - a standard reply will come - Today the regular size lobster or crabs are not in stock, and will be only served 'AS PER SIZE' now these three words I dread on any menu card. Well now you will have a fashion parade of well-trained waiters with their wares - large , LIVE crabs and lobsters. You all get excited - there will be some foriegners on the next tables saying their wow's and taking pictures and in the process ordering.
Even I ended up ordering the 'AS PER SIZE' dish.
On my way out I was waiting for the valet to bring my car, I was seeing the crabs on display and asked the manager outside if I could order a regular Crab dish as a take-away and he promptly said yes, I ordered one regular crab dish at a regular price, and walked out feeling cheated by the Over-selling tricks Mahesh Lunch Home used. They don't need to do this, or else they will spoil their reputation.
I also have got the name of their Owner and want to talk to him about this, but he never comes online.,....
Anyway, this is just a warning, and all burrpers should raise this issue if you come across a similar treatment. Least that will happen they will get the message and stop these dubious ways of over-selling.
Over all eating experience at Mahesh - EXCELLENT
