  • At last! A decent coffeeshop!

Matteo Coffea , Church Street  |  7 reviews

Bangalore might've been the birthplace of the coffeeshop as we know it, but it's been quite a while since we've had a place that serves decent food & coffee at reasonable rates. It's either cardboard sandwiches and watered down drinks or decent-ish food & drink which're ultra expensive (220 for a club sandwich? Really?!)

Matteo's a refreshing change from this scene. Are they breaking new ground in terms of what they serve? No, not quite. They serve your coffeeshop staples like burgers, sandwiches and pastas at reasonable rates. The taste and the quantity are also significantly better

  • Bliss in the morning

The Egg Factory , St. Marks Road  |  49 reviews

I won't gild the lily and add to the praise that's been heaped on The Egg Factory in the last 41 reviews. It really is as good as they say it is.

Go here in the morning, order your favorite style(s) of eggs with a glass of that wonderful Berry Blast, put your feet up and feel a sense of peace and wellbeing that's rare to come by in Bangalore these days.

I've never been here post noon, but I'm willing to bet they're still as good through the rest of the day. But those mornings, I tell ya....

  • Nothing but the View

    Cirrus , Indiranagar  |  14 reviews

I'll agree that the place has quite a view. Not the best view in B'lore, maybe not even one of the top 5 views of B'lore, but a view nevertheless in a city that's quite starved of tall buildings.

The management of this place seems to expect the view to charm to such an extent that you will forget about small things like service, ambiance etc

The decor is the typical schizophrenic ambiance you'd expect out of your neighbourhood Shanti Sagar's a/c room - dim lighting, plastic lamps, random color schemes...you get the idea. Add plastic chairs & wobbly tables to this mix.

    But

    Sandwich & Co. , Bandra (W)  |  2 reviews

Sandwich & Co is so small that it could almost be called a hole in the wall. But what a classy hole in the wall it is! 4 small tables occupy a tiny al fresco space in front of an equally small, but inviting deli store. The store was well-lit and our 2-3 minute walk around seemed to indicate that it was well stocked with hip breads and deli style cheeses & cold cuts.

But let’s get on to the sandwiches.

The menu has some 6-8 sandwich options for both vegetarians & non vegetarians. My friend and I chose the Country Club sandwich and the Lox & Cream Cheese bagel. Both, as it

The Chocolate Room’s a wonderful concept. A place that’s all about the yummy goodness of chocolate? You’ve got to love it irrespective of how old you are, right? Umm, not so much.

If, like the girls from Bishop Cotton Girls School across the road, you’re all about ultra sugary stuff at decent prices, you’ll love it. If you’re expecting a wide range of products and an above average attention to the quality of food, prepare to be disappointed.

My sister and I visited after a light lunch at Tasty Tangles down at UB City, so we didn’t go all out on the chocolate like we would’ve
