Italian food as is in Italy

I was here on a brunch last weekend and I must say this place never ceases to amaze me.Perfect italian cooking, with great jazz music made me want to break out in song even! The appetizers where they bring in the bread, garlic, basil leaves and cherry tomatoes can be quite an embarassing event if you do not know the right way to put it together, dont be shy asking one of the waiters how to eat it the way it is supposed to, they ll only be too happy to help!Service is impeccable at this place, so a huge plus!
Ambience is unfortunately a bit tacky according to me and is probably the only negative at this place.I started off with the porcini mushroom soup and I was stunned at how perfect the soup was!Never have I come across a soup that tasted like whole mushrooms put together to create a divine creation...this is a must try for everyone!Main course was a simple pesto spaghetti for me as I am a fan of pesto sauce and even this, which is so simple to put together, tasted exquisite! You could actually figure out that the pesto sauce was fresh and not something dumped into the pasta from a jar!The dessert was a bit of a let down for me, I ordered a fig pie with ice cream, and this was a bit stale...my friend on the other hand had ordered a chocolate pie and it was heaven!

Sinfully italiano

Had read about this place on Times and when I saw the review that this place had better food than Fiorano, I landed here as soon as I could to savor what can only be called Bangalore's finest italian food!I am a big sucker for ambience and this 2 levelled restaurant stole my heart as soon as I saw the Victorian decor indoors, the terrace level looked like it would make a great place to be in at night.
Coming to the food, I ordered a Vegetarian lasagne that had a cheese crust so sinfully fattening and delicious that I was left wondering if I was indeed in Bangalore! My friends ordered seafood platter that seemed quite scrumptious.Something that deserves special mention is that I put together a mocktail myself, when I saw put together I told the waiter what ingredients I liked and he prepared a drink that was very very good!Finished my meal with an amazing lime gelato(the non dairy kind) and I couldnt have been more satisfied!
I definitely loved this place for its authentic italian food and its uber-European ambience, the one thing I did dislike was the fact that there were too many waiters hanging around the place which just made me feel a bit in the spotlight and hence an utter lack of privacy! Also I ve always maintained that in a classy restaurant, one must employ well spoken waiters who know the food well , instead just as is the case with every restaurant in Bangalore, we were waited upon by pushy waiters who smile too much without knowing the food too well.Get them rid of, and I would pledge allegiance to this place.

Ambience over a good meal??

I was here almost 6 months back for my birthday dinner and I must say at first glance, this is a tiny haven tucked away in a corner creating your own private space for romance and leisurely time. The ambience is what strikes you the most, its a farmhouse/boutique that belongs to a couple who turned their porch and lawn into a seating area.Since this place is not well known and is well out of the city its a great place for a quiet birthday or anniversary with your loved one.We had a candlelit table under tall trees on quite a windy evening and I must say it was mesmerizing! The lady of the house spent some time socialising with us along with their pet labaradors which were so friendly and cuddly(thats surely a plus with me :)!)
Coming to the food, service is terribly slow as it is definitely fine dining but I must say very very raw food!I can handle probably a starter that was raw but course after course was all raw food and since I am a veggie, after a point I felt like a deer! There were 5 courses in all and it took a good 3 hours for all the courses to be served and about Rs.3000 off our wallets for 2 people. All in all I wouldnt go here for the food but for a quiet evening, its a great place to be!

Bangalore's finest tea spot

I am not very kind when it comes to reviewing restaurants, for me to like some place and keep going there for 4 years in a row means this is seriously some good food!Infintea is located centrally on Cunnigham Road and its got very innovative English teahouse interiors with some quirky paintings and sayings. The music ranges from soft rock to classics to very weird Far East music(which I somehow cannot seem to appreciate)!

The tea choices are varied but my favorite is Assam CTC, its brewed to perfection!I am a veggie so my number 1 for 4 yrs has been the Summer Pasta Salad(this is simply divine) and the fried veg momos are a good choice too.But this doesnt end at just short eats, there is quite some variety in Italian main courses though I ve managed to find only the Thai green/red curry with rice to be very good. This is a great place to go to for a delicious breakfast on a weekend as well, you get pancakes with maple syrup, waffles and eggs with your choice of toppings and much much more! And the best part is its quite inexpensive compared to the exorbitant rates that are charged in many of the restaurants in Bangalore!Go here for a guaranteed good time(tends to get very crowded beyond 9 pm and always crowded during weekends)!

One of the better lounges in town

I hit Couch last night, it was a bit difficicult to find, considering it was a lounge bar, had to go around the block a couple of times before we found it in a shabby building, I wasnt too impressed from the outside, but much to my surprise, the interiors were fantastic! The theme looked like one thats in vogue this year, a bit rustic, dimly lit, couches and chairs in various quaint shapes thrown around in private alcoves, cement pillars and flooring with wacky rugs and pretty chandeliers from the top floor.I was very happy with the ambience I must say, there was club music playing but I must say I was not so happy with the music effects as it was loud in some parts of the entire length of the floor and some parts it was more like some leftover music.
Coming to the food, we had decided to go completely vegetarian and non-alcoholic(yes I know its a lounge bar but i had contraints unfortunately).I am pretty hard to please when it comes to food as I ve worked for a good part of my career in Europe and I know how European food needs to taste.Much to my delight I was quite happy with the food and the presentation of the food, the mocktails werent on par(one was a bit too sweet and one was very spicy) and that was a big minus. All in all its a good place to go to if you want to relax and spend some time talking with friends after a hard day's work!
