Excellent
Shiok has two sections - the restaurant and the lounge. The decor is nothing to go ga-ga over but still it is a nice place.
I have been to Shiok a number of times and can never find fault with their food. The folks who take the orders are very knowledgeable. I have gone with their recommendations and have not been disappointed.
I am not much of a soup person, so will not comment about the soups, although I did try it. For starters, my favorite is the chicken satay. I recently tried the chicken golden baskets and loved the taste. Anything on the menu that has the word “drunken” should definitely be tried! No, I am not an alcoholic :)
For the main course we had the Mee Goreng, Prawn stir fried noodles, and as accompaniments beef with chilli paste and prawns in chilli sauce. Make sure that you tell them how you want your food – sweet, sour, spicy…they will add the sauces to match your palate!
For Desserts- they do not boast of a large menu. But whatever little they have is good. One of my favorites here is the muskmelon sorbet. I have not tasted anything like this anywhere else. The tiramisu and chocolate mousse are also very good.
This spread will set you back by about 700 for 2 people.

Good
I am a coffee addict and I wonder why I visit this place so often! The menu has ten pages of different teas that you can choose from, one page for coffee and a section called "Other drinks"- talk about relegation! :)
Funnily, I never pick up coffee here. I love drinking the grape soda in Cha Bar.
Some things that I love about this place- It is an elaborate affair once you order tea- you get milk in a cow shaped vessel, you get a miniature strainer and a small bowl to keep the strainer!!! It is left upto you as to how you want your tea. Talk about paying a premium and having to make tea by yourself! To give the devil his due...there are teas that you don't need to prepare yourself...they come in glasses that have a "monkey" as the handle!
The short eats are nice but pricey. Since I don't drink any of the teas...I can tell you what all my friends think of the place- they LOVE it! It is far cheaper than Infinitea on Cunningham Road.
Cha Bar is attached to a book store- Oxford- a really nice place to pick up some good books.
Cha Bar is a host to many book launch sessions/ panel discussions which can be quite a pain since the entire cafe is occupied and they don't serve anything that day.

Good
Kaayal, which means "Backwaters" is a small, clean joint that offers some good Kerala cuisine. The ambience has subtle elements that reflect Kerala.
A simple meal of Appams and Stew would be less than Rs.100/-. If you take the Non veg fry, the bill will reach about Rs. 200/-. Overall value for money. The breakfast here sometimes gets boring, with appams and puttu on the menu day after day.
The one drawback about this place is the fact that they run out of items very soon. So if you reach this joint around 9:30 p.m. you may be left with little or no choice. If you like a lot of corriander powder in your dishes, the Kadala along with the Puttu is the right choice ;)

Average
Barbeque Nation is a nice joint for all those who have a huge appetite :)
The starters are good and are placed in a barbeque that is built into the table and ...they don't stop serving you!!!
You may want to hold off on eating all those starters, 'coz there is a buffet spread as well! I did not care much for the buffet spread as it is the same stuff that you would get at any other restaurant.
Two things that did not make my experience great at Barbeque Nation- We had paid 800 bucks and lost our appetite after the huge starters. So for me it was not value for money. They have to learn how to manage the crowd. There were people standing across the reception area and made it difficult for us to enter the buffet section.

Good
K'mistry was one of the few places in Indiranagar to offer good English breakfast. If you found Koshy's a little too far away, this joint was a good stop.
Sizzling hams, bacon, wonderful egg omlettes, toasted bread, fruit juice....all this for about 70 bucks.
Their knockout dish was baked beans!
Heard that they have closed...this is sad news for all of us who frequent the place.
