Excellent
Just visited the Sahara Star this week for a buffet lunch and am impressed with the up-coming 5 star hotel and its decor..
We had a buffet at the Coffee shop called - Hot Plate which was awesome...
In terms of food the variety is tremendous - nearly 12 main course items in non-veg and 12 in veg.
A huge salad counter and dessert bar alongwith choice of ice-cream & tea & coffee..
We started with the Chicken Manchow soup which was good and progressed to the murg malai kabab (melt in the mouth variety), goong bow chicken (which was good but a bit on the bland side). The handi murg (boneless) was great too..
Besides this we tried the goan fish curry, poached fish with spicy sauce, brown rice and saag ghost (the best!), beef chilly and rice noodles with seafood...
In terms of veg, the starters were all Gujarati - variety of dhoklas, patras, dahivadi etc..The veg main course was good too - specially the alu methi, paneer makhani and gobi masala...
Desserts - moong dal halwa and sugarless chocolate cake made our day!
Of course, besides this there were quite a few varieties of cakes, pastries, kaju/pista mithais, ras - malai available too but we did not attempt to try them out..
Service was good too.. The total cost - nearly Rs. 2000/- for 2 of us for the buffet.
They have a very good sea-food speciality restaurant too and an Indian speciality restaurant called Namak too..
The sea-food restaurant is set in a giant aquarium atmosphere like the one we see in the water parks abroad..
The huge indoor atrium is full of greenery like the tropical forests..A must -see..

Average
Just had dinner at the Mezzo Mezzo yesterday..
The waiter hard-sold us the set menu making it out to be the most exotic menu on earth!
Bad part - nothing about the set menu was in writing - which is pretty un-professional considering that this is a Marriott chain restaurant..
They proclaim that the set menu - priced between Rs. 2500/- to 3500/- per head would have a variety of starters, soup, main course & dessert.
But it was nothing of that kind. We began with a cold salmon starter, moved on to a chicken soup and then waited endlessly for the other items..
The wait time was nearly 45 minutes between the soup and the starters..
The starter consisted of 1 mushroom pizza (thin-crust), a cheese based pasta, followed by another variety of pasta on a bed of mince meat...This was followed up with a piece of sea bass on a bed of lentils..
Although the sea bass was grilled perfectly, the lentils were undercooked..
The dessert was a bowl of tiramisu (have tasted better tiramusu elsewhere).
Initially when we walked in the welcome and service was incredible, but when we started ordering and the restaurant filled up, it deteriorated..
Funny thing, they have an Evian bottle placed on every table..Only when we asked for mineral water - was Himalayan produced...
This place is frequented by foreigners & expats - and was pretty packed till quite late in the night...
Excellent and comfortable seating - but too many tables reserved for smokers - and the smoke from these tables tend to intrude on the non-smoking section too..
All in all, an expensive dinner - not worth the cost!

Good
Mmmmm! Discovered this place quite recently and have frequented it thrice already!
It's located in Oshiwara Andheri west, opp Yoko Sizzlers and Oshiwara Police Station (a little ahead). Small place, with basic seating arrangement - plastic chairs etc.. in all around 7-8 tables.
The food is amazingly fresh and tasty with cooks and the ingredients being from Bengal...
The seafood has all the flavours which good Bengali food deserves to have and the serving portions are quite average to generous too!
Do try out their Biryani's - yes biryani's as recommended by Mrs.Roy Choudhary.. Quite different from the regular biryani and amazingly tasty.
On the pricing, the good news is that it is quite economical and does not hit the wallet hard like Oh! Calcutta. The food is priced in the range of Rs. 30/- 50- for starters and Rs. 60/- 100/- for each of the main course items...
And yes, they have a good variety in terms of fish - with assorted gravies..
The place is very cosy and belongs to the Roy Choudhary family who run it very effectively.
Cons - the staff is new and it takes them ages to get you your food..both the times we nearly starved to death waiting for the food to arrive from the kitchen!
Second, you cannot sit down at length and have a leisurely meal as there is limited seating...Third, no alcohol - but that shouldn't be a problem with hard-core food lovers...
The desserts - mishti doi and a rice based cold sweet kheer (kinda forgot the name!) were delicious too!
Try out the place, you won't regret it! Only be warned, try and go after calling as the wait for the tables (at times) is too long...
Cheers,

Excellent
Over the years, I have had a good and bad experiences with Dynasty, but the last 1 year has been amazing!!!
Dynasty - located on S V Road Santacruz, near Yoko Sizzlers is a relatively small restaurant serving Chinese food which is better than Aromas of China, Mainland China and even China Garden.
Mind you, only the food is great - not the ambience or setting...It's a little cramped but if you get a table on the immediate right hand corner - you can be assured of comfortable experience.
Try the Dynasty Special Fried Rice - which has mushrooms and a few pieces of pineapple (with chicken or sea-food or vegetables)...It's got a great flavor (not too sweet) with the pineapple comlimenting the spicy schezwan prawns or chicken.
The hot & sour soup is great and so are some of the chicken dishes. The best thing about Dynasty is that they customize the food according to your palate - is less oily and greasy compared to the other Chinese restaurants and has great flavour - whether it is black bean sauce or schezwan or garlic-chilly combination...
The lemon ice tea is better than most other restaurants!
They dont serve liquor but i think they have some mocktails and desserts...
I have taken a lot of guests to Dynasty (Indians & foreigners) and everyone has had a great experience!
The service is quick, instant and helpful!
Only drawback, the seating is a bit cramped and not too comfortable.. But the food does make up for all this!
Best thing about Dynasty are the portions.. They are wickedly huge!!!
The fried rice is enough for 2-3 people, so are the noodles and starters...Soups can be shared 1 by 2 comfortably too!

Excellent
Have been to the older Trishna at Kala Ghoda a couple of times earlier - but ventured here for the first time yesterday..
The food is mind-blowing - We had the Hyderabadi Rawas Tikka (Fish Tikkas) which had 6 generous pieces of tikka flavoured just right with black pepper! Great idea to wash this down with chilled Kingfisher!
Next followed the prawns butter garlic pepper (medium sized prawns) - which were good too - only negative - overloaded with butter - could have done with less of the butter!
For the main course we had the Cochin curry (Surmai curry) with Appams & Neer Dosas - which was too good with the appropriate flavors - not overdone nor under flavored.
Service was fabulous! Someone always magically appears whenever you required anything.. Superlative service.
Pricing - A little on the expensive side when you compare Trishna with other Malvani food joints like Harish in Irla..
For 2 of us the entire meal listed above cost us Rs. 1500/-
Of course, the first page of their menu is a bit scary - what with no rates mentioned against any of the items - the king prawns, lobsters, crabs etc.. But if you order off the regular items page 2 onwards, each item is in the range of Rs. 200/- - 350/-
Trishna was a great experience and lived up to it's name!
Cheers,
