Fall from grace
Pot Pourri was among my favorite joints till some years back. Not any more. The food doesnt seem to have the same charm it once did and I can say that for the look and feel of the place itself.
Prices are definitely steep for the non airconditioned road side joint, no matter how hard they convince you that its the positioning. Whats more, most of the stuff I liked is off the menu now. I wont stop people from wanting to eat there (not just yet) but I wont recommend it.

Surprised that no one has reviewed Olive. For me, the focal point of this restaurant has changed from the eating area to the bar. Its pricey (but then again did you expect something different?) The bar snacks are quite nice (though pricey again) and the bar area has a good feel to it. The bar list is comprehensive enough. But its this very thing which makes me queasy when ordering wine by the glass. In all likelihood it means that the wine has been open for a long time and will reach me flat. I always ask to see the bottle and invariably they get me a bottle thats been open - exactly what happened when i asked for a Hardy's the last time I was at Olive.
Seating at the bar is not the most comfortable, but i cant really think of 1 obvious reason why it is so - so i guess I will just complain till i can come up with a solution.
It gets really busy on Fri and Sat nights, make your way there early.
I went there sometime ago and I distinctly remember reflecting that the food (though well presented and exotic enough to look at) is really not all that hot........ maybe the restaurant is just losing its appeal for me. Time will tell........

Zenzi is nothing if not expensive. Whatever made them think they can charge 180 bucks (yeah!) for a pint of beer and get away with it?? Its dick heads like me! Read my lips, this place is not for people who keep a close watch of their pockets. Try it once but give it a miss henceforth, you wont regret it. One saturday night, the air conditioning in the enclosed area had failed but the management did not even deem fit to apologise even lesser charge discounted prices. I think they would have gotten shafted if they were based in New York or London. I left with a distinct feeling that in Zenzi the prices come first and the customer last. That well may be the truth....

Polyesther or Poly's who prefer a nick is quite the place if retro is your speed. At 1000 bucks a couple for which u are given coupons, its not the most expensive place in town. Good variety of drinks, nice bar, large area and stays open beyong 1:30. I havent still decided whether Hindi that they push in every now and then is a good diversion or just a poor attempt to appease everyone. But its a nice place for an enjoyable Fri or Sat night. Make your way to Shamiana or Bade Miyan for a bite after the revelry!

I have been to Vie Lounge about half a dozen times. At the most visible level, the outdoor deck overlooking the beachfront is clearly the calling card of Vie. The scotch is over priced and there is not much choice if u like to choose from more than 1 scotch on the bar menu. I typically stay away from wine at restaurants unless I can order by the bottle, since most places serve from the same open bottle for days and that makes the wine go flat. Restaurants do that in the hope that most people will not notice and it seems that they are probably right judging by how prevalant this practice is.
Food is good but then again you would expect that quality for the price you are paying.
All in all an enjoyable place if u dont mind buring a hole in your pocket for the luxury of sipping your drinks overlooking the garbage and eunuchs on Juhu beach.
