While we have been to the China Grill umpteen times, I never got around sharing my experiences. As I like to pen my reviews while the taste (good or bad) still lingers, after tonight's experience there I felt I shouldn't put it off any longer.
This cozy place has been our family choice for a long time. It was my very finicky Dad's favorite too.
The ambience is very nice, muted, subtle, but yet elegant. And they have managed to arrange the seating and lighting so well that every table has its privacy.
The two hosts (should've got their names!! Will do nxt time) keep monitoring attentively yet unobtrusively and were always at hand to ensure every guest is happy.
The stewards and waiters too are courteous, knowledgeable, efficient, and ever helpful.
Coming to the most important part: The Food -
It has only improved. Certainly there had been a shady period in the past when the quality had suffered, but it really is a thing of the past.
The Manchow soup was tasty and fresh. The dry spicy prawn starter suggest by the host (name!!) was liked even by my son - a sworn prawn hater. The Peppery stuffed bean curd was vibrant with flavours, and the chef had managed to cook the Tofu just right. Unlike at most other places, Hakka Noodles here are not oily at all and go well with any main course. The Fiery Hot Lamb looked fiery indeed but didn't taste so; the 'Fire' did not mask the other ingredients that gave it a unique taste and texture. The lamb was succulent and well cooked.
The food here is fresh, balanced, and the portions sumptuous (We did not have any place left for the appealing Sizzling Brownie) and well priced. I always that feel liquor is overpriced at all restaurants, and so it is here too; but we go there for food.
Overall, A Wonderful experience, something that the Mainland China (you may like to read my review) and Chinese Room might choose to learn from.
