A nice place for Punjabi, Mughlai food

A happening location in the heart of Lokhandwala Market,The ambience is old style and it's a family restaurant.Thought the interiors are decent, I guess its time to change a little. They have experimented with their sizzlerswith a twisted fusion of Indian cusines. They gave us Jalebi as complimentary desserts.Their Famous chicken lollypop tikka.are catchy and Spicy but tasty.Interestingly innovative Murgh Tawa Biryani and Paneer Lazeez melts in mouth.
Home delivery is a little slow, but they offer a discount on the same.
A perefct place for a family dinner

Lovely family dinner

We visited this place for a family dinner on a friday night.. The place was preety empty at 7.45 and we easily got a lovely round table. Ambiance is really warm n lovely.. The dinner started with shorba and some great starters. Each and every item was good.. specially paneer items were great !! The only hitch was when we were about to order veg tawa biryani.. the waiter was honest enough to inform us that both veg and non-veg tawa biryanis were made on same tawa (shocked !!). However.. we were happy he atleast informed us.. But overall it was simply great experience and to top it up.. they served the bill with some complimentary jalebis.. yummy..

My wife & I went there on a whim as we were in the vicinity, the decor is that of an old age Indian restaurant with a few modern touches here & there. This place has been on my radar for a long time as I had heard a lot about it from my friends, however had never visited it. The service was great, however it is hard to judge the standard of service when the restaurant was empty (we went early to beat the dinner rush), the waiter was very helpful & guided us through the menu, we shared a fish tikka starter which was great; most & tender with the marination cooked to perfection. For mains my wife opted for a Fish Curry & Roti's & I decided to be more adventurous & try their Chicken tikka sizzler both our main courses were perfectly executed!!! This is a great place to take friends, dates, & families, we will definitely keep coming back for more!!!

Decent food!

Recently ate the Murg Musallam and enjoyed it. Good quantity and sufficient for two people to be satiated. It is also a good place for vegetarians who like good Indian and Mughlai food. Their bread basket has a lot of variety. Dessert menu- have the Gulab Jamun hands down. Or Jalebi rabdi

This has to be the worst restaurant I have been to in the recent times. Had the Nalli Nihari and Murgh Masaladar Tangdi. The gravy of both the dishes tasted -actualy there was no taste it was so bland- identical. All one could taste was onion, salt, and haldi.
The meat seemed as if it had just been boiled. There was not even a trace of seasoning.

The drinks were just as bad. Had the President and Mexican Dream.

The place was extremely clean, and the ambience was decent. The restaurant has a smoking zone where you can sit and smoke while wastching the fish in the aquarium.

However, when the food of a restaurant is not edible, there is little one can do to appreciate it.

Pleasantly surprised

Had seen this place for a long time but never got to eat here for some reason or the other..Ordered in from here last week and the food was great
Their interpretation of the chicken clear soup was very different, it was spicy and indianized...tasted nice, as did the chicken gravy and pineapple raita.
A value for money place...

take care of your stomatch

Went to visit lokandwala. Ordered butter chicken for take away on 1 sept, all the while dreaming good dinner with home made phulkas. But alas.. the look wasnt pleasing at all. on tasting it it looked as if some other gravy has been given the color of butter chicken. Pieces were old and hard. whatever little we could have, we had with two chapatties... But still the could not escape stomatch upset. Its 2.22 at nite n i m still awake from the pain in my stomatch. plz plz dont ever serve such food ever again to anyone. Mail id hema61chawla@gmail.com

Are you listening?

I went to this restaurant with my family after 2-3 years. We specifically asked for dishes which can be made non-spicy. We ordered the dishes recommended – Butter Chicken & Chicken Handi and requested at least zillion times that the food should contain no chilies. In spite of all this, the food was extra spicy and we could not consume it. This ruined our evening.

Either their chef instead of non spicy made the food with extra spice by mistake or they cannot make food as per specifications of their patrons. Even a take away place would make a chicken dish as per my taste and considering their prices this was not expected from them.

Will avoid this place from next time for sure

More than Good Punjabi Food

Sasural is probably among the oldest restaurants in Lokhandwala. This restaurant serves delicious Punjabi Cuisine priced in the Above Average/Expensive Range.

Food is simply awesome, coupled with good service and a very comfortable ambiance which gives the foodie a full and relishing experience. The instrumental background music makes things only better.

My Advice - you must try this place at least once.My favourite is Reshmi Kebab and any Gravy with hot Roti. Sweethtoother's - Jalebi and Rabdi a complete Die Hard combo.

Amazing Service

Staff is really pleasant and welcoming. Food was great. Overall a nice experience.

One recommendation, get rid of the buffet section. It's really embarrassing to put 3-4 items and call it a buffet. I went their on a weekend and didn't see a single person opting for it.

A decent affair!

It is one of those typical upscale punjabi restaurants, where you casually order some starters and drinks, with friends or family, but might be little lonely to go alone, because of the ambience and the dim lights. The food is really nice. Especially try the paneer starters.
The only downside is the price. It is a little-bit on the higher side. For a proper dinner for three people including drinks, will cost round-about 2000 bucks.

Well, the price factor isn't that much of a hindrance, because in comparison with other restaurants in your "Genre", I think, you don't charge anymore than what others do. So, I would still like to come back to this place.
And about the quality, everybody appreciates good quality. So, keep it up.

Will treate you like Son-In-Law

Surely this place will treat you like son-in-law. Had a plan for a family dinner but plan didn't worked out so went alone to have dinner here.

As i was alone so directly ordered Dal Makhni and Plain tandoori Roti. Servers were very friendly. Had a good, nice and quite dinner at this place as when i entered this restaurant only one table was occupied but by the time i left 4/5 table were occupied.

Food i had was good.

Excellent Ambiance

The ambience here is very good.
The service is impressive with all waiters speaking english.
Normally in restaurant waiters do not suggest or give bad suggestion but here the waiter help us to decide which dish to prefer and their suggestion is always right.
Taste of starter is excellent with good amount of quantity.
One should try platters here

wonder why they kept the name Sasural!!!!

No, the staff doesn't pamper you like Kingfisher to call the place your Sasural. However, they are not bad either. Well dressed, polite and English speaking staff are in good numbers at this place. The Sardar restaurant manager is really sweet and polite. Thumbs up.

The exterior decor of this place is a must see during festivals like Diwali, Baisakhi & Christman. They certainly spend a lot on it and I am sure that it successfully pulls crowds.

Interiors are good. The circular tables are really nice. The tables a located a good distance and the place doesn't look to be too crowded. Crockeries are decent enough. Lighting is a bit on the dimmer side which makes it a pleasant place to dine.

The place is usually full on weekends so it is advisable to make a reservation. The crowd is a typical Lokhandwala public. A complete cosmopolitan crowd.

Food here is really good. Service is prompt. A must mention is that even if they take a "little" longer but food is served hot.

Expensive? try buffet!

The lunch buffet is 200 for veg & 300 for non-veg, even on weekends. They make the starters & rotis fresh for every order & it can get delayed. Don't miss the soya roti though!

Great Indian Food

Am a regular at Sasural for the simple reason that the quality of food is great, the staff extremely courteous, service is very quick, VFM pricing and good enough portions. Special mention must be made of the Sardar Manager who is extremely warm and always there to help with a smile.
Only thing I wish is that they should re-inventing the menu cause I have seen the same dishes for ages now.

Nice food but very expensive

hello friends may i say after around ages I have been 2 a restaurant 2 have a complete veg dinner.

So well we started with the mocktails we ordered Paramour and one more with chocolate icecream something. Paramour is a must have for all those mango lovers very nice.

Then for starters we ordered Nawabi Paneer which is very awesome amazing never had such wonderful paneer else where.

For the main course we ordered Paneer in onion gravy which i didnt like, and dal makhani which was good but certainly have had better dal makhani's . The Garlin naan was good

Total damage : 1300 for 3 ppl

very very expensive i must say when i go 2 have a proper non veg dinner also it isnt this expensive.

Sasural - literally

A family restaurant, that has been in existence since the time lokhandwala complex came up. Been a visitor since 1993. Earlier they served chinese & mish mash. After their renovation some years ago, it is only punjabi, indian & a couple of moughlai dishes. Reasonably large, with enough space between tables & open till 1 am in the night. Home delivery is prompt & efficient. Afternoon Buffet is OK, but can be avoided.

The vegetarian spread is pretty nice, with some good off the menu dishes being offered. The chef ensures that he listens to the requirements & different dishes HAVE different gravies & taste.

The rotis are made out of wheat & not maida. The stuff kulcha, have real mixed stuffing & not only aloo.

Deserts are standard Kulfi, gulab jamun but combining them is a good bet.

Serving food is a good deed,...cut the attitude

I hope they realise soon, that there are around 100 odd restaurants in Lokahndwala area itself..now..which are much fancier and better..

Seems like they are still in the thought that this is the only Indian restaurant in this area :), cute but its WRONG
