Standards and Quality Maintained

Pizza Express has finally arrived in Mumbai, and we were pleased to see that their standard and quality are as good as the experience in their London branches.
We had pizza and pasta (linguine) which were both very good, the desserts were also commendable, and the service was good considering we went on a Sunday lunchtime. It would be advisable to make reservations as they get pretty busy, especially at week-ends. Well done guys and keep it up, we will certainly be returning here soon

Great Service & Good Food

Service is literally fantastic... from the time you enter to the time you leave...

Happy environment.... great ambiance & good food. The suggestions made by the server were exactly what was delivered on our plate.

The menu is kept simple, food is served the way it is explained... we had a good time eating & drinking here.

Certainly a place worth multiple visits...

Supreme Italiano!

Following the International chain, Pizza Express finally opens its chain in Mumbai. However, this chain should consider opening up at more places in Mumbai. This place has a good ambiance with a blue decor. It also has an open kitchen where people can actually view their pizza/food being made.

This place carries the legacy of good Italian food...& its thin crust pizzas are very yummy and crunchy. You cant leave this place without having tasted their specialty 'the dough balls'....it simply melts in the mouth.

Just few suggestions :
1) It should consider including some few mocktails/coolers in its menu
2) Should include more vegetarian variety

Best pizzas in town

Pizza Express in Colaba (near the Gateway of India) serves some of the best pizzas in Mumbai. You have Classic American and Romana (Italian) preparations to choose from, with several options for toppings. Their coffee is good too. Limited options in desserts. Friendly service. I liked their décor.

Great Place for Kids

Make sure you get your kids here. The people at pizza express let them make their own pizzas in the kitchen which is a unique experience. The dough balls are a must have and their pizzas are really really good as well. Try visiting during weekdays and you can enjoy their special menu as well. Good place to visit.

Really Disappointing

Hi, I normally visit the Apollo Bunder Branch. But this time I visited your Thane branch on Saturday Night. We were 4 of us attended by Amit R.

Ordered Padana Pizza - told him to make it saucy - but it came really very dry.

Also ordered Cannelloni - the cheese was burnt and again very dry.

Very Disappointed with this..

Ordered another pasta and salad - which was good.

Please don't repeat it with any other customers. It was a very important evening which was ruined by cannelloni and pizza..

Pizza-licous... :)

The waft of fresh dough baking in the open kitchen, the moment you step into Pizza Express, is enough to whet your appetite for something you won’t get enough of - authentic Italian pizzas..! that;s right, look no further.. And maybe just, these guys do it better than the Italians themselves, with the localized versions served with chicken Tandoori topping.. the thin crust Romana pizzas are a must-try! light on the tummy, yet full on flavor and taste.. and well, if you're lucky, you might get to bump into their intl trainer, johny, whos only too happy to explain the elaborate process that goes into the making of every pizza express pizza, whilst the actions happening right in front of you.. do try the dough balls (rs 140) to get you started while the pizzas bake.. the bruschetta wont let you down either.. although they have only two basic varieties (Classic & Romana), the sweetly spiced pizza sauces, leave you asking for more.. and if this aint enough you could top it off with their mascarpone cheesecake.. sobo can now boast of authi italian pizzas in the heart of town.. way to go pizza express.. ..

average

just recently been to pizza express, first of all never order what the waiter suggests. secondly they consider egg as veg. starters were not good but pizzas were good. quite filling. had been for late diner. please dont get fooled when the waiter says dough balls is the signature dish. they are just normal buns with sauce, nothing great. rosemary pizza bread is literally like paratha and hard to bite. pomodoro pesto is average while melanze picante pizza is good. go for thin crust pizzas. all veg pastas have traces of egg except pesto. quatro formaggi is a blend of 4 cheeses which is good but ask them to make it veg

Go for the Pizzas

Been to this place 3 times now and keep going back solely for the pizza. They have two sections downstairs and upstairs. Usually a good idea to make a reservation since they have a good lunch crowd as well. Roomy with an open kitchen you can see the chef prepare your pizza.

Food: The dough balls is their patent dish. While the bread is soft and different from what you'd usually get it's just served with garlic butter. Once you've had it for the novelty factor you probably won't go in for it again. Their Bruschetta Originale and Piccante again lack enough toppings so it feels like you're eating more of the dough balls. I suggest you skip the appetizers and jump to the main course directly. I promise you won't be sorry.

Have had the Padana and the Margherita. The Padana is the way to go to satisfy that goat cheese craving. The spinach, caramelized onions and goat cheese make an interesting combo without being too strong on the cheese. The tomato base they use makes the Margherita divine though I wish they'd use chopped basil which is easier to eat than an entire leaf a slice.

Service: Excellent just the food takes a while, I don't know if its because everything is made from scratch or they are understaffed. Also when I had a slightly negative experience they called multiple times to ensure everything was fine. Strong focus on quality.

Damages: Rs 600 per person sans alcohol

I love their pizzas so will go back for more.

pathetic pizzas and exemely slow staff and waiters

After reading all the reviews on burrp i was wanting to visit this place.. and so took my family out for holi dinner there. I was very upset with the waiters service since it was extremely slow.
He suggested a pizza that tasted horrible and cost me a whooping 700 INR. We had called for a thin crust pizza which it was not.. We called for 3 different pizzas all of which tasted horrible. A family full of pizza lovers was extremely disappointed.

Do not miss the Dough Balls & Desserts

Went there for dinner and had made an reservation in advance, which is a good thing because you get prompt seating & service. Ordered according to the staff's reccomendation since this was my first visit. Dough Balls for starters- the best thing of all! Fresh, served hot with oodles of butter! Had a romana pizza which is supposed to be crisp and thin crust, but the one suggested to us, I personally did not like it a lot. Was too oily and had big chunks of Eggplant (Or aubergine as they have stated in the menu). The recommended dessert was cheesecake with vanilla ice-cream, that was awesome too. Their presentation and style is worth commenting. Can be pricey an average bill for 2 would be 1200-1300 if you go for all the courses.

Mixed Feelings

The first thing that strikes you about this place is the decor, and then the open kitchen where you can watch your pizza being made which is definitely a nice touch.

I had gone with my family and ordered for the Dough Balls, Pomodoro Pesto and the American Classic Pepperoni. The Pomodoro Pesto Pizza didn't receive much love from my family, maybe because of the pesto, but the Dough Balls and Pepperoni Pizza more than made up for it.

My only grouse is that they serve packaged Lipton Ice Tea which is not mentioned on the menu. For such an establishment, I was hoping it would be made in-house.

Disappointing

I am a regular at Pizza Express. I just gorge on their pizzas and cannelloni's. Yesterday as usual I visited this place post dinner just to have a bite of their padna pizza (which I adore). It is the most yummilicious pizza I have ever had anywhere before. So for my undying love for this one, I often go there post dinner. Yesterday, I was disappointed. Absolutely bad pizza. It was cold, the pizza bread was dry, the base sauce was hardly there, caramelized onions were present in blobs at few places, spinach wasn't great either. Overall not a good one. I drove all the way from Shivaji Park to Town just to eat this one (And that also after having my full elaborate dinner)Cross fingers, this experience will rub off on my next visit.

Delicious food and a perfect location

I went to Pizza Express for lunch on a Saturday. The moment you enter this new pizza chain in Mumbai you get a feeling that it is going to be a good experience. The staff is very friendly and I got along with them in a few minutes. The head chef and his team are happy to welcome you if you want to learn tossing pizzas in the air. It was fun to learn some tricks and moves to play with pizza dough. I spent about 30 mins practicing with them.

The food was absolutely lip-smacking. They serve the best pizzas with fresh ingredients. The dough balls were hot, soft and yummmm..I personally loved the mushrooms. But the Caesar salad was not great. The presentation of the Caesar salad is good but the taste did not really meet my expectations. The topping on the pizza is fresh. Ask for John, he will suggest the best pizza for your tummy. The desserts steal the show at Pizza Express. The moment they served desserts on the table, my mouth started watering. The Cheese cake with a scoop of ice cream and the Banoffee Pie gave a perfect finish to the lunch. Do not miss the chocolate fudge glory.

The ambiance is classy. The restaurant is creatively designed and the arrangement of tables gives complete privacy even with hundreds of people around you. The open kitchen fills the restaurant with fresh aroma of pizzas. The staff is super cooperative, but the service should have been a little faster.

Pizza Express gave a perfect start to my weekend. They have truly maintained their international standards and it is definitely worth a visit again.

Good pizza's, even better desserts!

Pizza Express has been a pleasant discovery for me. I tried the pomodoro pesto and the padana pizza; both were excellent! Soft thin base which is neither crispy nor chewy. It's just right. The tomato sauce is really nice and I liked the idea of just using just the required amount of cheese and not drowning the pizza in it. It was a nice change. But the desserts stole the show! The signature cheesecake was simply heaven. The chocolate fudge cake and the banoffee pie were really nice too. I suggest you skip the pizza's and feast on the desserts here.

Very good Pizzas !!

I was here twice in a span of 10 days. I have tried their Pandana Pizza (not sure whether i spelled it correctly), Four Cheese Pizza, Cannelloni. Pandana Pizza is with spinach, caramelised onions, goats cheese & mozarella. Four Cheese Pizza & Cannelloni is self explanatory. I was very happy with all the 3 dishes that i have tasted till now. However, i do believe that these people have some problem in their hospitality. On both the occasions, i have seen tables around me bickering about something or the other. I am generally very lenient unless there has been some serious error on the hotel's part. I normally keep my cool & don't complain. If i don't like a place, i quietly eat the food, pay the bill & leave forever never to come back. At least in my 2 visits i have not got anything to complain about. Hoping for the best.

I prefer dining at pizza joints that provide a variety of preparations, and not your typical Margarita and others. CPK is one of my favourites, but this one I found to be better than CPK, in the choices they provide and the quality of food. Service was also very good. Worth visiting!

Last sunday been to pizza express. Not a pizza lover as such, but was dragged by a friend there. First of all, I was astounded looking at the ambiance. It smelt, felt like I was in America. And its huge! Moving on to the food part. I went in for the Pomoro Pesto Pizza and Dough Balls. One of the best pizzas I have tasted in an Indian pizza place. And for its worth, its worth! :D

Great Pizzas!

Went there over weekend but not much of waiting time. Good ambience, great service and large variety to chose from. The doughballs are truly signature, and loved the pesto base pizzas. We ordered one medium crust pizza too, which was more like naan with toppings, but the waiter was prompt to change.... should definitely stick to thin crust options. Cheesecake and tiramisu are too good, don't miss them for some stupid calorie guilt! Hope they will be opening one at Bandra soon.

Good food happiness at Pizza Express :)

One eats with one’s eyes and one’s smell sense is the first to recognise delicious food!! True that, with this one visit to the country’s first Pizza Express outlet at Apollo Bunder. Perfect location I must say. Pizza Express has arrived in the city and is definitely here to stay... delicious food, convenient location, warm and friendly staff... what else does one want a quest to explore good food in the city.

The place has a perfect happy vibe to it as soon as one enters then the ever smiling staff will only add to the happiness. The service is as quick and efficient as the joyous beings around!

For the starters we chose the dough balls, pasta salad and chicken Caesar salad. The dough balls were cute little pieces of round bread served with garlic butter, garlic flavour to perfection. The pasta salad made in green sauce was delicately flavoured and aroma of olive oil drizzled on the pasta made it even more appetizing. Lastly, my favourite starter, the chicken Caesar salad with the perfect salad dressing, a white cheesy sauce with a delicate flavour of pepper and olive oil. The Caesar salad had just a hint of anchovies that gave the dish an intricate fish flavour. All in all a good beginning for an awesome meal ahead.

After so many starters, our stomach allowed us just one pizza before we could indulge in the desserts. We ordered the Pomodoro Pesto pizza, that came with two kind of toppings. I must add here the effort taken by Pizza Express for the use of fresh ingredients, they enhanced the flavour of each dish. Also the pizza base was fresh, crispy and light. The staff is very educated about all the aspects of pizza making and of all the ingredients used in the kitchen.
Last but not the least, the deserts, the key highlight of the entire meal!! I must say their deserts are out of this world!! We ordered their specialty, the cheesecake, tiramisu, chocolate fudge ice cream and a chocolate fudge cake. My personal favourites were the cheese cake with mascarpone cheese and the tiramisu. Delicately flavoured cheese cake, perfect scrumptious base and the subtle dollop of mascarpone cheese, makes one just stop thinking and indulge. Tiramisu served was one of the best I have had in the city, the right amount of alcohol flavour and for a change there were biscuits and not a cake layer in the tiramisu.

To sum it up I’d say my experience at Pizza Express was indeed a pleasure of the palate experience. And I am most definitely going back to this warm and friendly place!!!

Welcome Back!

I remember about 10-12 odd years back, Pizza Express was present in India and I can clearly remember the Pizza slice logo. I didn't have the chance to taste it then since it exited silently and then there was mass entry of Domino's and Pizza Huts..

A warm welcome to Pizza Express and I was wowed by the location and the way it has revamped. Had a chance to taste the classic Italian Antipasti. The cured ham was nice while I would have loved black olives. The chilly in vinegar was sweet and yummy while the bread and mozzarella were heartily flavoured.

The best was the Tiramisu which wooed my tongue with the bitter sweet flavours from top to bottom. A special mention to my server who suggested the Elderflower drink which was top notch!

Would love to visit again for a leisurely lunch with friends..

Pizza Express is amazeballs

I had a great time at Pizza Express! I expected the atmosphere to be a little formal and stuffy, but everyone was so chilled out, that me and my friends fit right in. We ordered the Caesar Chicken salad, dough balls (140 bucks! They were so great), Il Padrino Pizza (475, quite worth it considering these aren't ingredients that you normally find on pizzas in India) and Chocolate fudge cake (best chocolate cake I've had till date). I tried to make my own pizza, and the pizzaiolos were really nice about it. Definitely worth another visit.

Best Pizza Ever!

After reading great reviews for Pizza Express, Colaba, I was dying to go there especially since it's so hard to find authentic Pizzas in the city. I can honestly say I wasn't disappointed.
I usually don't notice decor and interiors but this place is notably elegant. Classic black and white colours, combined with dim, mood lighting certainly makes for a relaxed but grown-up vibe. Additionally there's that whole open kitchen that adds the fun factor to the experience, not only can you watch the very skilled chefs make your pizza, you can even ask them to help you make your own! If you have young children this is sure to be a big attraction. The staff were very helpful and eager to please, that's always a good thing.
I ordered the Bruschetta con funghi (Rs. 280), baked mushrooms (I think this was Rs. 280) and the Dough balls (Rs. 140). If you like mushrooms you'll LOVE the bruschetta con funghi and the cheesy baked mushrooms.
They serve an impressive classic pepperoni pizza (American, Rs. 460) which was the highlight of my entire experience. If you're ever craving pepperoni do yourself a favour and order this pizza. It's everything you ever dreamed of. The Alba pizza (Rs. 625) and the Pollo ad Astrada (Rs. 595) were really good too. It's been a while since I've had a good skinny, crisp crust and Pizza Express really does justice to the food they serve.
I found the desserts stellar in their own right. The chocolate fudge cake (Rs. 250) is great value for money and the Chessecake (Rs. 250) was good enough to order twice.
The best part of coming to to Pizza Express was probably watching the pizzaiolos make the pie in front of you. A couple of my friends decided to try their hand at it and the guys were incredibly patient and helpful.
If you want to try great Italian food with a side of DIY pizza fun, you should give it a shot.
My top picks: The baked mushrooms, the American classic Pizza and the Cheesecake.

Pizzas how God intended them to be

I was here just yesterday and I bloody loved the place. Such good service and food, you will find yourself licking your fingers away to glory.

No. The staff at Pizza Express isn't British. There is a mix of both Europeans and Indians here (ask for John; he's amazingly efficient. Makes fab recommendations).
I enjoyed dining at Pizza Express. The tables are well spaced; ensuring enough privacy. The staff - they call them pizzaiolos - also seem to be very child-friendly. And they know the menu. You can ask them to recommend a pizza and say that you don't want XYZ in it, and they'll list out a couple of options in return.

I had the cheesecake, baked mushrooms and Pollo ad Astra. Freshly made and served in good time. each course was so epic and awesome. Thing is, Pizza Express treats pizzas like how we treat our biryanis. There is no fast-food attitude towards it. So you get pizzas the way the Italians made it, sans the American bastardization of it. The pizza base is light and crispy, and made bang in front of you.

I did think the staff was slightly clunky in the service. But it won't be long before they clean up their act. Pizza Express makes pizza really well, you guys. Go. Visit. Fall in love.

PS: You have to, have to order the classic cheesecake. Twice. Pretty washrooms - very monochrome cool. Lovely blue glasses for water - At first I mistook them for candlestands :P.

Also, the dressing that comes with the Chicken Caesar salad is delicious. Just ensure that you don't put too much of it at once.

Thin Crust, Visually Satisfying Pizzas.

Located in pretty much a traffic-rich area, Pizza Express isn't something you'll miss. One would really wish that the availability of "valet parking" was mentioned somewhere because, we had to hunt for parking.

Anyways, we get in and we are treated with some brilliant hospitality. 3 of us were guided to our table and that's when you realize how big this place is! They have a really clean, odour-free open kitchen where the pizzas and pastas are prepared.

Initially we ordered the Calabrese. I wanted to know how honest the word "express" and yes the pizzas were served quick. We then followed it up with the American and La Reine(around Rs 500 each).

The Calabrese is a 10"x8" rectangular pizza topped with pork sausages and pretty much every vegetable you could think of. It was quite small for the price tag (Rs 725) but its taste was outstanding! Firstly their pizza sauce tastes totally unique and simple, nice and thick. The cheese too, is totally talk-worthy.

While waiting for the pizzas, I had a chat with the chefs at the open kitchen where they mentioned the use of Pizza Express exclusive ingredients etc. This guy named Uday was the one who I was talking with.

We then got the American and the Frutti di Mare. Yes, they accidentally got us the wrong pizza, and that too, a sea food pizza. Of the many times I ordered a sea-food pizza,(reason 1. sea food lover; 2. Pizza lover) this was something that I wasn't looking forward to at all. They offered to exchange it, but then we eventually decided to go with it.

14" circular, super thin crust and visually satisfying pizzas with that perfect aroma.

The American is a pepperoni pizza. Yum! It was definitely one of the best I've had in recent times.

The Sea food pizza (topped with prawns, squid and clams) tasted surprisingly well. In fact, it too, tasted awesome! Soft meat, tasty sauce, a little delicate crust, sufficient toppings. Everything you'd want.

With the different oils to flavour your pizza, the taste gets better.

And yes, they serve alcohol too. They talked about expanding but sadly, not in Bandra. This place is a definite MUST GO.

Racist!

By the Whites, For the Whites. You will get better service in this place if you're white skinned. It was so so very evident. What attitude! We ordered a Salad and asked the server to split the salad in two dishes but he comes back and says that the chef(all of 'em British) has said no. Then we get to know that there is no avocado for the salad and that we could choose whatever we want as a substitute. Fair enough. We ask for some Gorgonzola. He comes back and says that the chef will not add Gorgonzola. If the chef means everything in this place then why the hell are you in business?? Doesn't the customer's opinion count for anything? After much wrangling we got the salad with a very miniscule portion of Gorgonzola in it. BTW the Bosco salad was okay(the portions are really small, mind you). Next we ordered the Pizza. The Pizza was good but the amount of Cheese was stingy and we complained. So the manager comes over with a very defiant attitude and tells us about adding only 80 gms of Cheese and if we want more we must pay more(this is 600 bucks a pie minus taxes and service charge mind you). And he addresses customers by their first name as if we were long lost friends(doesn't he know that the courtesy protocols are different in Asia and that customers must be addressed by their last name?). Me and my friend were pissed. Also a bunch of white hippies on the table next to us started to tell us about how good Pizza express is in the UK and in India and that we are complaining for nothing. I guess that is why I don't mind eating at Tratts even though the Pizzas are expensive. At least the staff at Tratts addresses me by my last name and they more often than not bend over backwards to accommodate my wishes and that too with a smile(which is genuine). The thing is that I have eaten Pizza at Pizza Express in the UK and I still believe the Indian one sucks! I suggest they start looking at their competition to understand that in India you must do as the Indians do or very soon you will have a bunch of unhappy customers. Maybe they are teething problems(which they are learning at our expense, mind you) maybe they just like to throw attitude or have a Colonial Hangover. I wont be back to this place for a long long time for sure!

guilt trip

The Pizza are cooked in their traditional way, the waiting staff are helpful and the wine list is good. There are of course one or two quirks ( they appeared to have one waiting staff member whose job seemed to be brushing garlic butter on the bread or spreading parsley on pizza - weird).

The staff were friendly and efficient. We had the garlic bread - tasty and enjoyable. Then we had the american hot with extra pepperoni. These were big pizzas and were excellent. The sauce was good and the pepperoni was spicy. We also had two glasses of wine.

The best Pizzeria in town right now....

First things first ....IM A VEGETARIAN (well eggetarian)....

While there are many schools of cooking authentic food (yes i know it sounds stupid because i find the word authentic when applied to food stupid)..

The European (especially British) style of cooking global food has really started to become a rage in india.

Maybe its the excessive stress on fresh ingredients and not overcooking food or maybe emphasis on use of garlic, but Vegetarians in Mumbai have really taken a liking to every chain coming out of UK in India.

Pizza Express has got the thickness of the crust , the amount of cheese and the topping that suit the Indian Vegetarian palette just about bang on.

We had the pesto pomodoro, and the veneziana which were both perfect.

The lasagna and dough balls were great but fell short of excellent.

We paid about 6000 between 5 people with 3 beers.

A must for pizza lovers...and non lovers too

Pizza express is a must for all pizza lovers. The special tomato sauce from tomatoes from the Greci farm and fresh dough add to the list of positives. Even though the menu doesn't really give you a variety in pastas and salads, the side orders like bruschetta and fresh dough balls totally compensate for it. We tried the Apollo, Pollo and astra and Margharita of which the first two i would definitely recommend to all. The pizzas were fresh, thin and saucy and if you have no capacity for desserts then you must parcel the banofie pie but do not miss it cause its truly a treat. The ambiance is nice but the open kitchen concept surely attracts a lot of visitors. Overall it was an amazing experience.

pizza day out

My friends and I tried pizza express at colaba after our shopping spree. The ambience is really nice with light music played in the background. We tried the Etna pizza. The speciality of pizza express is that the pizza base is really thin and crispy it’s their signature Romana pizza base. The price is reasonable and the pizza quality is great!! We made our reservations through Urbanrestro so we got a discount on our total bill!! to sum it up we had a great time

This Review is courtesy burrp.com :)

I Love Burrp.com! Where else would I get to confess my love for good food so openly and get rewarded for it by getting free vouchers to eat more good food? :) Only at BURRP!

I got a 1000 bucks free voucher for pizza express by virtue of being selected as a featured reviewer :) So went there with family (mom, dad, sis) 2 days ago around 7 PM.

This is one seriously classy place (don't know why it was just about 30% full-maybe because it was a weekday). Super impressed with the international standard decor, high ceilings, distributed lighting, tables arranged in a way that makes it easy to have a private conversation, very relaxed and cool ambiance, an open kitchen with smiling faces (I kid you not!) and deft hands stretching and tossing and turning the pizza bases, little candles lit on every table..blown away by it all! Definitely a place to go to impress your date or even take her parents out!

The staff is very polite, helpful and warm. I had a little problem with water not being served promptly and refills also taking some time, but it was taken care of soon enough :) I liked the menu too, very clean and meticulous. They also have a little book explaining about the origins of this chain and some of its specialties, on every table! I was tempted to take one with me (no,eventually i did not :P)

We ordered for 2 pizzas-1 was gardieneri (something like that!) and other was picaate (or something like that)-boy, the names alone are enough to give anyone a dash of inferiority complex! Both were thin crusts. The first one had olives, mushrooms, tomatoes and the second one is supposedly a 'vegetarian favorite' with the main ingredient being brinjal! Brinjal on a pizza!!! Never heard of that before! My sister loves brinjals, so she ordered for it. I hate it, but the pizza was okay enough that I ate it all without complaining. I liked the gardenri-thingy more. It was delicious. The brinjal one actually tasted like it had baigun bhaja on top of pizzas-I cannot complain about its taste, all I can say is if you love brinjals, order it, if you don't then don't order it. I also thought it had a little more salt than needed, but it might just be my tongue revolting against brinjals, my sister loved it!

Overall, I loved the food, the crust was delicious enough to make all the dough at pizza hut and dominoes look like a joke! The toppings were also not stingy, the quantity was good-2 pizzas would be good enough for 3 people, me likes :) My dad and I had some dosa later that night because we are 2 elephants who need more than a couple of pizzas before sleeping peacefully! But my sis and mom were full after having 2 slices each of both pizzas. (They are normal eaters, obviously!)

Of course, the price is little bit too much. The pizzas were around rs. 500 each (which was covered by the voucher) but then when the bill came, it was for around rs. 1300! Yes, complete 300 rupees worth of tax!!! Oh boy! Needless to say, this is a special place to go for very very special occasions (after saving a hefty sum). I am glad I got the opportunity :) Some day again maybe I will go back, this time to sample the desserts :)

Mouthwatering Garlic Bread and Pizza

Been to this place a couple of times now and keep going back for the garlic bread and pizza. A lot of tables with an open kitchen you can see the chef prepare your pizza, which is pretty cool.

Food: The dough balls is their patent dish. While the bread is soft and different from what you'd usually get it's just served with garlic butter. Its great but you cant eat it all the time.
The garlic bread with mozzarella is to die for. Warm bread + melted cheese + hint of garlic = One amazing starter.

For the main course we had the romana style Asparagi. I love leek so I loved the pizza but the others weren't a fan of it. They removed the leek and ate the pizza.
Next we ate the Padana which was amazing. The spinach, caramelized onions and goat cheese make an great combo without being too strong on the cheese.

I've never had room for desert at this place so I cant say if its good or not.

Service: Service was a dat slow but I can understand as the place was packed. Strong focus on quality and the waiters are very helpful. They do their best to make the experience enjoyable.

Usually a good idea to make a reservation since they are usually packed.

A true winner - delicious pizzas

To start with, i had been waiting to be to this place since long. Went on a Sunday, and the mistake i made was, i had not reserved a table. And then i was told 45 mins waiting time! *phew*
However, the courteous staff was able to arrange a table for 6 in 20 mins. We waited out (There is no waiting / sitting place). However, when they saw my grand mom, they wanted to arrange the table ground level. The good staff, did manage to arrange one, Thankfully, my grand mom did not have to climb stairs to level 1!

The ambiance is great at a go, when you enter, what catches attention is the open kitchen where the pizzalios as they are called, roll and bake fresh pizzas. Truly happy and delighted to see how they toss the dough in the air and flatten the pizza in the open kitchen.
Took my family (including grand-mom as stated above - she loves pizzas) to this place. My family has mixed preferences. The Jain counterpart (includes me) started with Bruschetta Piccante while the "normal" vegetarians ordered Garlic bread with Mozerella.
Both were very good to start with, the garlic bread, was stuffed. However, the portion size serves 2!
Then we called for a hot chocolate, was good.
For the main course, for jain pizza we ordered a margherita pizza (Romana which is thin crust) with extra toppings (olives for me are a must in pizzas, jalepenos, bell peppers etc.),
Also we ordered a plain margherita classic pizza for my Dad who does not eat veggies. He loved his pizza.
For the vegetarian counterparts, there was Melanzane Piccante, order only if you are fond of Eggplant!
The iced tea served is the lipton canned, can be avoided.

The overall experience was very good, all i felt was there are still dishes on the menu, i want to try out soon like the dough balls, the desserts (eggless options available).
So, to end with happy dinner time with family and yes, Pizza Express, i am going to see you very soon again.

Highly overrated !!!

I don't know why people get so carried away when an international chain drops by. Being a pizza fanatic I had high hopes from this place but alas it was no where near my expectations.

I would say the decor is very well made , live kitchen where you can see your pizzas being made was nice experience. The staff was good and polite. Valet parking may be considered as hygiene factor these days but its really a boon.

The garlic bread...were outstanding, cheese was oozing out from the freshly made dough, however the portion was very less, well to be honest it was meant for only one.

The Romana or Romano pizza wins hands down compared to their classic. I loved the pizzas no doubt but it was nothing outstanding or out of the world. Strictly ok, what caught my attention was the pasta. The pink sauce was made to perfection with baby mozzarella cubes thrown over. Unfortunately they dint serve Vegetarian Lasagne although it was mentioned in the menu. When enquired we were told the cheese used in Lasagne itself is non veg.

What crashed the mood was the desert, Chocolate fudge cake was dry as if it was stale. The cheese cake was also so so, we wanted to try nutella dough but our spirits were really dampen so we left

To sum up, pasta are great , garlic bread is good , pizza are ok and deserts are bad

The first thing you notice when u enter the restaurant is the decor which is pretty good. The open kitchen also works coz the smell of freshly baked pizza welcomes you. Pizza Express cannot be missed. Do try the dough balls and the Classic American Pizza and also the Romana Pizza.

BEST PIZZA/PAZZTA JOINT IN MUMBAI

I visited this place last Sunday all the way from Nashik with my Mom and had a super duper treat there. May my Sunday even more joyful and delectable.
The ambiance is just perfect for a Sunday hangout and food is simply awesome and pizzas are so delicious and yum that you can never afford to miss out on them.
The service was really very fast and the staff are also very friendly and polite. I loved the Vanilla cheesecake to end up my meal on a sweet note.

Awesome family dinner

Went there for the first time. Ambience is very well done. Although I couldn't see the live kitchen from where we were sitting. The lighting was good....neither dull nor bright. Gaurav was the name of our waiter, who was very polite and courteous and helped us make the right pizza choice as my mom is a vegetarian and the rest of us eat meat, was to go with a half and half pizza. The pizzas are very good. We ordered 3 Romania the Etna, Funghi di Bosco and the Pomodoro Pesto and the Pollo ad Astra as the half and half. All the pizzas were very good light with a slight crunch at the end. Neither chewy nor stiff.

Family Time at Pizza Express!!

Time spent with family is always special & if u mix that with some awesome food it's a blessing.

All the members of my family are crazy pizza freaks, be it my parents & my siblings.

So we decided to opt for Pizza Express Chef’s Table Experience for 9 of us .

It is one of its kind, cool, fun & enriching (got loads of secret tips of making a fabulous pizza)

Like usual the Pizza Express Colaba branch is always busy, but as we had a chefs table booked we enjoyed complete privacy.

To begin with it – we got lip smacking starters – Dough Balls Doppio with 3 dips – it melts in your mouth, absolutely delicious.

The chefs table is a fun activity where in you learn how to make their signature pizza with the chef & also create your own pizza & learnt to make perfect podana pizzas, pomodaro pesto & soho.

They also had a small competition & gifted us pizza express vouchers.

To end the pizza marathon we indulged ourselves in their heavenly desserts – Cheesecake & chocolate fudge cake.

It's an awesome place to spend some quality time with family. Each of us had a gala time!!

Amazing place!

Wow,what an amazing place! Went with college friends and this is such a great place, with such amazing staff who go out of their way to make one feel welcome. I had a pizza express voucher which I utilized without any problems, constantly smiling staff made our ordering process very easy by suggesting dishes -we ordered for dough balls and cabrese pizzas and both dishes are excellent. It is an expensive place but very classy and a must visit for everyone.

my favorite pizza place

My favourite pizza place, which I don’t go often too simply because it is expensive but I think it serves the best pizzas in town. Ambiance is very nice, gives that expensive place feeling. Went with friends and had Romana Cipolla Caramellata pizza, Pollo Bolognese pasta and Penne Polo Picante Pasta ending with tiramisu for dessert. All the pizzas are freshly made and enough for 2 people and pasta is enough for 1 person so I would like the pasta portion to be generous. Otherwise, no complaints with quality of food.

Italy Time

The moment you enter this place you will be struck by the wonderful aroma of Italian herbs and olive oil. Reminds me of my glorious days back in Italy. The pizzas here with the thin crust are simply delicious and there is ample variety for all. The toppings are fresh and tasty. Slightly on the expensive side. The restaurant has good ambience and good setting for a peaceful dine out.

pizza loving.

Do you love The Cheesecake Factory? Or always get tempted watching Rachel and Chandler dig into the stolen cheesecakes in FRIENDS?
Well the Philadelphia cheesecake @pizzaexpressin will take you there and is definitely the yummiest cheesecake in mumbai !!! The texture is absolutely perfect – creamy, thick, smooth and it slices beautifully.

Classic thin crust margherita pizza topped with olives, jalapeños and mushrooms is absolutely authentic. Try out the multi grain bread !! @pizzaexpressin

Pizza not served for an hour with no explanation

I had the worst experience ever in your restaurant at colaba Mumbai
Reached at 8pm as per my reservation today - 27 Feb 2016.
Ordered by 8.10 or so.
No sign of the salad and pizza till 8.45 - 8.50pm
On asking we were told that they are Finding out what the reason is! Tables beside us (who came after us) were being served their food!
Not a single waiter apologised. Asked for the manager on duty at around 9pm who also comes to the table and tells us that he will find out why the pizza has not come.
Finally at 9.10 with no pizza in sight I went across the road for dinner at another restaurant.
What actually irked us was not that the food did not arrive but the fact that no one wanted to even apologise for a mistake that they had made.
They could have said sorry. Offered us a discount. Say the meal is on them. Or offer a free dessert maybe.
Even when they saw us leaving, they did not bother to tell us don't leave. Or do anything at all!
So maybe you are shutting shop?
Am sure sales have dropped as the restaurant was not even full on a Saturday night!
Pizza Express is history for me atleast!!
