Expensive but good

Being a Punjabi, I love to try different types of Parantha's. After I saw this, I was interested to taste this place too. One Parantha was costed me more than Rs, 200 and I was surprised as I can get a Parantha (stuffed) at a good place for not more than 30-40 bucks. I ordered Paneer Parantha and they served it with Black Channa and curd. The stuffing was so so fat that I was not able to eat all the Paranthas. I won't call it Parantha actually, it's like different version of a roll.

Bad experience

I have been here twice, and both times its been a dreadful mistake.
The first time we had chilly potatoes for starters and they were absolutely tasty. After such tasty appetiser, it was surprising that we struggled with the main course. we ordered paneer and gobi parathas. the paneer paratha was double layer and extremely non appetising. The gobi paratha was better, but it was too much effort finishing up the paneer paratha. The complimentary chole and dal did nothing to make the paratha taste better. We had ordered hakka noodles. It seems ironic that a we loved the chinese starter and hakka noodles more in a paratha place.
The second time, we again ordered the same starter, but this time it was just too hard and oily. It seemed that it had been deep fried twice or thrice. It was absolutely not appetising. This time i tried to play safe and ordered muli parathas. But again they were not that great. I've had better homemade muli parathas than those served at the paratha house.
In all, it was a pretty disappointing trip both times.
I dont think i'll make the same mistake third time!

Amazing Parathas

I've been to this place twice and they have some amazing varieties of parathas. We ordered sprouts paratha on our last visit. They have two types to choose from- single and double layered. We ordered single layered and it was very filling. I especially liked the chole and achaar that they served with the paratha. We also ordered pasta with white sauce which wasn't that good.
Overall its a very good place to go if you want to taste some authentic parathas.

Parathas - the name says it all

This is definitely one of the best places to have delicious Delhi – style parathas. One can get overwhelmed by looking at the menu – the have listed all possible combinations of fillings to arrive at hundreds of varieties of parathas. Personally, I am not a fan of this approach – this would be similar to a pizza outlet listing hundreds of varieties of pizzas with various topping combinations; all this just tends to be too confusing.

So I always end up ordering their “Make your own Paratha” where one can choose either 3 or 4 stuffings. The prathas are served with chana, dal and raita making it a complete meal in itself. Also, one must be mindful of the fact that these are Delhi style parathas i.e. they are pan fried rather than grilled on tava and the portions are huge. For a healthier alternative, one can opt for tandoori parathas, but then it would be a big compromise on taste.

Apart from parathas, their chaat also has a huge following. I have also tried their Punjabi thali once, but found it to be too much for one person. Overall it is a good value for money place for parathas and chaats.

Who came up with this menu?!!

Seriously, who could conjure up all the different varieties of paranthas these guys have on their menu? Growing up, we knew that paratha meant aloo, mooli or gobi as dosa meant masala, mysore masala or rava. Aah, Life was so simple back then :)

But not anymore. The menu here has so much more than parathas but frankly I have never been able to get past that to tell you about anything else. I did have a papdi chaat but did not love it, so did not venture into anything else.

This is an awesome place to go to with lots of people because that way, one gets to sample more varieties than if one were to go alone. Also, the parathas here are very heavy and so it is always a good idea to go with someone to share food with :)

I have been here twice with my gang of friends-7 of us and we have tried Chole Bhatura (liked the Bhatura, but Chole gave me heartburn later! Unnecessarily spicy) , Pyaz walla masala kulcha (very heavy and very tasty), Alu with spring onion paratha, Gobi with palak paratha, green peas with onion paratha, alu with paneer paratha and some more varieties that I cannot remember.

Frankly, the menu here gives me vertigo attacks. Look at it! They have about a 1000 varieties and after reading the first 100 I just want to go on a fast like Gandhiji and never ever eat again! It is very confusing and also, after sampling so many varieties I can also vouch for the fact that the stuffing in the paratha are not as generous as one would like. So it is not always easy to distinguish between the flavors. For eg-the spring onion and gobi taste more or less similar. So does spring onion and palak! So after a while it does not matter what stuffing you choose, it all starts tasting the same. I would recommend to stick to the basics like-alu gobi, alu paneer, mushroom gobi and relish it :)

Rajma Cheese

Imagine heaven with some cheese and Rajma sandwiched between a paratha !! Yep, sadly they've taken it off the menu. I ate this in 2005 and recently, when I asked for it (confidently, without looking at the menu) the waiter said there's no such dish. I called the manager who smiled, nodded in acknowledgment and 20 mins later, I had a Rajma Cheese Paratha ... The same one I had earlier.

Super awesome service, super awesome North-Indian Food. Tastes homely and is healthy if you choose your food palette right.

Service is not good .bu try kesar badam kulfi..

I went on Sunday eve..When we entered the lobby out there I noticed that they have made minor changes in ambience. they have changed the seats..these ones are better..but unfortunately they have not changed it for whole rest..only a few..As we were only two of us..we got a table immediately in the basement, but they had given us a side table which was actualy at a side of kitchen and trust me after coming to this nice rest u dont feel lik stiing thr in tht yuk corner..talking abt table next to kitchen..feels u r in servant room of 4 Bhk flat..
nways after request they gave us a proper and a beter table...we then ordered our food...food is no doubt good...chole were too spicy...i thnk tht is y thy serve only in one small bowl so u wont ask for other...as u wont b able to complete tht...
the service was very slow...we had to actualy search for waiter to take our orders....n finaly whn the order came it was not proper...we had requested separate dahi in chat, dal in place of chole..all those thngs were not proper....n also whn we had ordered two plates of paratha...one came n we had to wait for another for about 15 mins....thts not to b expected from a rest lik ths.....

yeah the mocktails are also decent enough to have...n yes not to forgt the kesar pista kulfi was amazing....one shld try tht...

First Timer View

While searching for a place for my afternoon lunch, I chanced upon Only Parathas. After reading the reviews here, I thought of trying the place.

First the pluses, the service is very quick..the paratha was served between the time taken to place the order and letting them know to make it without oil i.e less than 5 mins. The staff is very courteous. The place gets very crowded during lunch..many people patronizing it! The menu has almost 5-6 pages of different paratha options.

Now about the parathas! The staff suggested the premium paneer spring onion paratha. It sounded good because spring onion generally adds a good flavour to food. But to contrary, the paratha was very bland. I absolutely didn't enjoy having it! The accompanying chana had a peculiar flavor which also didn't appease me. The dal and salad were fine.

At the end of the meal I was left with a damage of Rs. 165 for the paratha and lots of calories.
(Btw. my opinion is subjective and based on my choice of flavors...there could be several people who like the place and may not agree)

Soooooo many varieties....

This place is full almost always....
especially on weekends...
but u get table in 15 mins or so
as they have a basement seating arrangement also.

There are sooooooo many varieties you literally take atleast 10 mins to select....and this happens with me everytime i go there....
they have low calorie parathas also...for diet conscious people....it will be roasted without butter and ghee....

every chaat is amazin....mouth watering...
basket chaat is a must have...

they have options in paratha to be single layer filling or double layer...
all parathas range from 110 to 150 based on layer and the number of filling you choose in your paratha...
one paratha is enough for a person i think...
so not too heavy on your pocket also...

i like the ambience of the upper level better than basement....but it is small....
basement has lot of seating space...

you will like the variety and will love the preparation of the parathas. Not to forget the chole and raita you get with the parathas.....i must say chole is very tasty here....its like the delhi chole ka taste....

pappi banaiye parathe

These guys started their business from a shop in lokhandwala & we have been their fans since then, the lovely authentic tikki with different kinds of chutney, gol gappe, different kinds of parathe...

With their going so far away & the long Q when one sees passing by has ensured that we have not been there for nearly a year.
