Cute Cafe

Finding this place is a little tough, but its definitely worth the effort. Great interiors add to the ambiance. The cafe has a European feel to it and reminded me of the cute cafes by the sidewalks in Paris. The menu is well designed. A great place to go for breakfast - just make sure you reach well in time to enjoy a lovely meal and not have to end up waiting!

Tiny Cafe

Finding this tiny little Cafe is really hard, but once you do, it's a pleasure sitting in and sipping some great stuffs. There are lonly 6 tables, with one of them being situated on the top floor. Their waffles are very good and so are their sandwiches. I love their hot chocolate and their cafe latte. They have a very loyal client base which would show up every weekend. Definitely one of the best places in Mumbai for breakfast.

Best cappuccino ever

This cafe is too inside at Kala ghoda. The cappuccino was much much better than Starbucks. Waffle with dark chocolate sauce is exceptionally good. Chicken Cheese sandwich-The first bite into it was divine, the simplicity of the sandwich with chicken seasoned with salt and fresh pepper, melting cheese and freshness of the salad leaves. The ambience is great and is perfect if you want to just hang out with your buddies.

Cute place

This place looks so cute and the overall area gives such a nice feeling to this place. You feel as if you are disconnected from the outside world. We ordered Espresso, cheesy straws and carrot cake. Everyting was made like a pro. The interiors are done like a euro cafe. prices are very very decent and is a cool getaway in midst of Mumbai .

Small cozy cafe

Kala Ghoda, an iconic destination of Mumbai known for its art, culture, festival and now evolving even as a restaurant hub.
Excellent food, great service and an intimate ambience gives Kala Ghoda Cafe a thumbs up. he food was excellent, and offered a healthy and unhealthy variety which is a unique balance. It's a simple, yet stylish Cafe with a loft like American design, Their waffles are very good and so are their sandwiches. They have these breakfast meals with waffles, a coffee of your choice , a juice of your choice which makes up a hearty, full breakfast.
I wish this place was a secret, so only I could enjoy it.

Decent place

Among the most beloved lunch spots for SoBo's work day crowd, this quaint little cafe is the ideal spot to grab a soy latte and a quick bite while resting your feet. The fresh juices and salads are cheap but clean and safe for foreigners and the interior, while it is a bit cramped, it's bright and pleasant. Best of all, the sandwiches, like the KGC Special (arugula, vegetarian mayo and Padano cheese on grilled flat bread), are light but extremely tasty when snuggled up to a hot (or more preferably iced) cup of joe. The restaurant is opposite Trishna and a stones throw from the Jehangir Art Gallery in the heart of the Kala Ghoda.

Amazing cafe

It is one of the most famous cafes near my college area. It is a bit pricey but quality is too good for at least 1 visit. Went with friends and had chilli cheese toast, waffles with chocolate sauce-both have been amazing and portion was enough to have with 1 more person. It was an elegant breakfast that I enjoyed with my roommate and the ambiance was very relaxing too.

Amazing place for going with friends or even alone

This is a place I like to sit even alone and relax for some time, it is close to my college and I have been here twice with friends and we have tasted many things,like- hot chocolate, which is brilliant, Mocachino which is again a nice chocolate flavored coffee, salads which are very fresh and made with good portion for 1 person each; staff is extremely courteous and food is prepared and delivered quickly!

Heaven for coffee lovers

Located in one of the by-lanes in Kala Ghoda, the Kala Ghoda Cafe was a late, but good find. Cute little cafe done up nicely. Hospitable staff with an amazing menu. Recommend this place for breakfast or evening tea/snacks. This place serves the best coffee I've had in Mumbai!

Coffee Hunter that you are ?!

If you are not much of a coffee lover, an affagato at this place is sure to turn you into one. Vanilla ice-cream with espresso poured on top is what the affagato is all about, and we guarantee, they use the best coffee beans when making the espresso – the Arabica. What you may not have expected is for the coffee to have been served here with raw sugar or jiggery instead of the usual. Cozily tucked in the backlanes of Fort, this place is not one that you would chance upon. It also has a mezzanine seating for 5 on the first, but don’t hold us responsible for a mini-cardiac arrest that you may get while you climb down a small stairway. Try the ‘Cycle Sundays’ that let you grab a free coffee if you visit KGC on your bike on Sundays

white place in "kala" ghoda

Small little cafe but known for its superb heritage and fabulous ambience. One must have the med salad, the pumpkin and green apple soup, the BLT sandwich, the carrot cake and the cheese straws. Come here and spend a lazy weekend afternoon and I assure you won't regret it. the breakfast combos are great value with good coffee, juice and sandwiches too. Wifi is an added bonus.

Go for their Rasta Sandwich!

This small little cafe resides in the by lanes of Fort, a little hard to spot, Its opposite Chetana Restaurant. Ideal for a tete a tete, this all day open cafe dishes out some great stuff. Among the must try here are the Belgian Hot Chocolate.... Trust me, its to die- for, the Rasta Sandwich is their USP, it oozes out tanginess in every bite ..... Their KGC Special Sandwich can be tried in the chicken version too and the KGC Chef’s Salad is a refreshing break from the monotonous salads too. They also have a good range of healthy juices.

Service Wise- The service is courteous an they always give you a warm welcome.
Except for the tininess of the place, there isn’t much you can complain about!!

Nice Breakfast

Visited this morning for breakfast, and despite the small menu, it was difficult to decide. Ended up with poached eggs, which were wonderfully cooked, and came with roasted tomatoes, a hash brown and toast. The eggs, tomatoes and hash browns were great, but it would have been wonderful to have something other than standard Mumbai brown bread. A nice seeded loaf, or homemade bread would take it to another level.

The ambiance is nice, and more European than heart-of-Mumbai. Service was a little slow, but that's life here. Will definitely be back if I am in the area.

Romantic place

We tried on a saturday evening..Deserted peaceful lane, literally vacant place and a great ambience made the place quite romantic. the music is cool. Staff is couteous. We quickly order the soup of the day and was promptly told its out of stock...communication on blck board could have been updated. We ordered veg Morjim salad which was out of the world. The sesame and peanuts dressing made it even more tasty. the chedar and pickle sandwich w/o cheese was also awesome. Coffee was ok..Overall great place.

Better Places Around

It's a cutesy place with maybe 5 - 6 tables and a small focused menu. Lot of wasted potential.

Food: Had the waffle with chocolate sauce and a sandwich. The waffles tasted of too much egg and are totally avoidable. The sandwich was average.

Service: Is too slow for such a small place. The waiters are just dawdling around.

There are better places around like Food for Thought for me to come back. The menu is also not interesting enough to revisit.

Avoidable

The owner was sitting on the top area and talking loudly..the scrambled eggs were soggy...service poor and slow... The coffee is exceptional...I bought 250gms for home..the lane in which the restaurant is is smelly and dirty...The coffee cups need better handles...I know its fashionable to have small handles but then you have to be a midget to use them.

Unique ambience, unimpressive service

I went by to Kala Ghoda Cafe last week. First off, the place is small, but you have to appreciate how they have decorated the interiors despite the handicap of space. The ambience is really nice, similar to studio cafe's you may visit in other cities around the world. However, the service was appalling; there were just two waiters, and even they were taking their own sweet time to respond. One of them even waited to finish his conversation on the phone before coming to our table.

Secondly, and this is the crux of the matter, they serve me an Iced Tea (which wasn't so good) along with a sugar syrup dispenser with ANTS walking all over it! Second item, a toast with cheese that was surprisingly closer to garlic bread with cheese than a simple toast.

Visit KGC if you want to experience a nice ambience and possible share a cup of tea/coffee (hopefully better than the iced tea), but not for anything else.

Cafe by the sidewalk

Mumbai has in recent times lost too many of its quaint and distinctive eateries to either count or effectively mourn. That space has been taken by the constructed fashionable", which means that what was once interesting because it grew organically out of its surroundings is replaced by the artificial. Quaint little coffee shop

Went there early on a Sunday evening. You'd NEVER find the place unless you were specifically looking for it or if you had gone to Trishna.

The place is cozy. It has 5 maybe 6 tables. The coffees were good and the rocket leaves and cheese sandwich we had was great. There is a changing sandwich and dessert of the day but there is not much choice otherwise. The little chocolate square accompanying the coffees was a nice touch.

Over all they have a limited menu (which is not necessarily a bad thing) and limited space which could be an issue on weekdays.

Paid 200 for 2 coffees and one veg sandwich.

Would I go there again? Probably if I'm in the area.

Bean Counting

Is half-past noon too early for lunch? Granted that the Kala Ghoda Café is being marketed as a coffee shop but when we visited one Tuesday, we were told that the cook would only arrive at 2 pm and therefore we could only get one of the four sandwiches listed on their rotating menu. Two committed carnivores were thus deprived of the chicken salad, egg mayo and veg Med options and had to settle for the KGC special, a parmesan and rocket sandwich that was prepared by the affable manager.....

Soya Macchiato at Kala Ghoda

It's a coffee shop the size of a garage, that was once a stable. Perhaps, it's this pastiche of reality that makes Kala Ghoda Cafe a bit more fascinating than it actually is. Wedged between hardware shops and warehouses in a tiny alley that's earned a place on Mumbai's culinary map thanks to firangs-love-it seafood eatery Trishna, the cafe fits 5 tables that can seat 15-odd people. A few more can lounge on a quaint wooden mezzanine that houses a comfy couch, bathed in sunlight streaming in through a sloping sun-roof. You make your way there up a ladder, so, the osteoporotic and non-nimble footed can stick.....[read more on Mid-Day]
