I really liked this place and used to visit it frequently. But then i stopped due to the fact that they donot treat children well. I had my son want to go and sway to some songs ...i let him do it as there was no one...the owner walked up to the waiter and indirectly stated that we are parents need to control kids....she ensured her message was reached.....can't kids dance? wierd...
This was one nasty statement...hence i wouldn't recommend parents to take you little kids there....there can be indirect nasty statements.....
But i rate this place a real good one....just that the lady who runs the place can get nasty indirectly.

Up Beat is a place close to my heart. This is a place i frequently visit each time i have a reason to celebrate. A roof top restaurant on the fifth floor saves you from all the city din and the noisy road.
As you enter what welcomes you is a neat ambience. Colourful velvet couches under a tiled roof, some tables under the open sky, a dance floor with pleasing lights, walls with pictures of lengendary singers, some potted plants to add to the cozy feeling and music that will make wanna tap your feet.
Up Beat has been here for the last four years or so and is a great place to chill out with the family or even friends. But most importantly, you have to like country music and ballroom dance if you have to enjoy the experience completely. Renuka, the owner plays the role of the DJ as well and makes you dance to Jive, Waltz, Cha cha, Swing and quick steps. There is no Hip-hop or any other fast music played here as they beleive in maintaining a particular taste and style and why not??? At Up Beat you can find many old couples too dancing the waltz much to everyone's amazement.
Now the food part!!! EXPENSIVE is the word. Quantity is very poor. The food tastes good though it can be improved. The Chilli Pork (Rs140), Bacon Wrapped Prawns and Crispy Chicken (Rs130) are a must try. This place is expensive to go by the trial and error method. The fried rice is a good accompaniment and has a very peppery flavour to it. A portion of rice is a single helping and is sufficient only for one hungry soul. But in case you are kinda full, then you can trying sharing. The drinks too are on the expensive side but its still ok.
Up Beat has a cover charge of Rs 300 per head which can be redeemed against food and drinks. The waiters here can be a little annoying. They either come too early or too late to take your order, same goes for serving as well. Interestingly the bill arrivcs at lightening speed. Something to be really careful is that you could be billed for many items you didn't order. Even if you have to write down what you ordered and tick it against delivery its fine. You might look really cheap doing that but i have burnt my fingers because of excessive billing.
Up Beat holds karaoke nights on Thursdays/Fridays, not too sure when. These are recommended only if you are not too interested in dancing. For the karoake nights, they display the lyrics of the songs for the crowd to sing along.
For people who love dancing, unfortunately music changes at 11 pm. And what follows is slow music that ends with the age-old song Adios Amigos.
Anyways all put together, Up Beat is a nice place to visit atleast once.
