Given a choice between the gazillion CCDs and Baristas that dot the city, I'd put my money and my time on a Barista anyday. They're less noisy, way more relaxed and the service standards are inevitably higher than that offered by your usual harried CCD worker.
That said, if I had to put my money on any one Barista in the city, it'd have to be this one - the Barista at the Leela Galleria on Airport Rd.
Let's get right to the food then.
You can get a full range of hot and cold coffee drinks, non coffee beverages like teas, smoothies and juices; along with a pretty darn good range of baked goodies here. Try their brownie with cream and icecream - I'm told it's one of their fastest moving items and you'll know why when you try it! As for the coffee, it's dependable as always. If you're in the mood to try something different(and more expensive), try out their new range of European coffee based drinks like the Ice Cappuchino and Shakerato. They're quite differentiated and nice.
There might be prettier and more charming Barista's around (the old one on St.Mark's Rd comes to mind), but this one gets full marks for its location. As it is in the upscale Galleria mall, it's one of the Creme Baristas, which means you pay a wee bit more for the F&B, but also that you get a teeny bit more of a range and more fancy cutlery and presentation.
Given the good mix of people who come here, you'll find it's a great place to meet friends, business associates and/or your bf/gf.
My only gripe with this place is that it gets a little bit difficult to get prompt service during peak hours. But considering the pros outweigh the cons, I'd still give this Barista 4 stars!

This place is special for me because I met my soon-to-be bride for the first time here. Anyway coffee joints are hardly for the coffee alone. The overall ambiance is awesome here. It surely helps if you're in an exclusive 5 star hotel in the middle of the city.
Another is you get to hear that fantastic pianist, who plays in the lobby day after day in the evenings. The open area has it's own charm till the mosquitoes take over.
It's sure is a good place to hang out. They used to be open till late. Now, late-party-goer trouble has changed their timings a little. They're still the most relaxed coffee joint in Bangalore.
peace.

Barista gets good grades for being consistent across chains, but nothing beats this locality in the Leela Galleria on Airport Rd. Set in the beautiful gardens, enjoy your espresso and snack amongst lush greenery and the sound of a waterfall! I have also caught free wi-fi here a couple of times (shhhhh! nobody wants to pay the Leela 1000 bucks a day, do they!?), so do not be shy to get some work done here. The blueberry muffins, chocolate excess cake and espressos are my favorite.
