Before I say anything, I would like to point out that I really do like the food here and can't fault it at all, it's excellent.
But if you pay Rs 4500 for 2 people for lunch, you expect standards. I know I'm being a snob and everyone's going to hate me for this, but we just had lunch there and the Indian families were dressed beautifully. We were dressed beautifully. The western tourists in swimshorts and t-shirts......? oh please. The dishwashers were dressed better than some of the guests. Why would you go for a posh lunch and dress like you've just come off the beach....? I don't understand this, and to be honest don't think it's right, call me old fashioned. There are enough places you can eat where you can dress casually, but isn't it nice to do the posh Sunday lunch thing in your posh Sunday clothes? The customers at the Oberoi seem to manage ok.
It felt like a UK motorway service station.
So I'm sorry, because I did like the food, very much, but felt very cheated by the atmosphere. Standards, please....
