This place is next to my house and i would cross it quite often and everytime I did ... i was attacted by its billboard .. and I would say to my friends .. we have to try this place..
Last night finally was the fateful night when i stepped into Boca Grande..
For starters we ordered some hash potato and mix veg platter.. which was good.. but it was after this that the horror story started..
We had to ask for spoon and plates maybe bcoz it isnt mentioned as the job description of the waiters there.
Then came the drinks and the shakes... AWFUL... i must have ordered a plain cold coffee in hundereds of places all these years .. and I had never found any place (till yest) who could screw a simple thing like that royally..
Another one had a crackling shake and 3 of us couldnt figure out anything crackling about that.
For the main course, i thot i'd go with pasta (just to be on the safe side) but felt as if they are trying to win some "WORST FOOD EVER" competiton the moment I put some in my mouth..
One mushroom dish tasted as if someone was trying to poison us.. My frens told me that was the worst expression they had seen on my face while I was trying to gulp the mushroom with some plain water..
Service was bad... there was a time we thought that we would get dinner by breakfast time..
So much for trying out a new place...
Huh.. we were so disgusted by the end of it .. that our only revenge was no tip.. LOL

Although this place is bang on the main road in front of Bethany High School, it seems a world away once you step inside. A place far better than any CCD or Barista, and where the cost of the fares are also a touch lower than any of the other coffee shops, this place actually has a nice look and feel to it inside.
Apart from the standard coffee/tea, they also serve some pastas, burgers, shakes and cakes. The biggest drawback (and this really is an issue with my friends and me) is that kids (school) are allowed to make a racket enough to wake the dead and get away with it. There was a group of 16 yr olds celebrating their friend's birthday, and apart from a loud raucous rendition of 'happy birthday to you', they also had a session of 'birthday bums'...things that I as a third party person simply wouldn't want to even witness. So much for the ambiance there, which just popped (along with my ear drums)! but otherwise, this is a very nice place to meet up with friends and 'hang out' I guess (since there aren't too many other things to do in Bangalore).

We came across this place accidentally n now we're hooked...We drove down from Forum onto 100 ft road looking for Mocha's but spotted a very nice-looking, well-lit loungy kinda place...you guessed it, Boca Grande!
Upon entering you feel like ur walking into ur own house...its comfortable n casual (n it IS part of a house!). They have a wide variety of ambiences thanks to the indoor, outdoor, upstairs, open air seating, couches, benches, etc. Very casual laidback atmosphere (the service is a little laidback too, unfortunately).
Getting down to the nitty gritties...theres an astounding variety of food and drink...quite a treat for the eyes..We began with a Toblerone shake (Rs.80 and too milky to our liking) and a hearty black coffee (Rs.25)...The number of speciality drinks they have is amazing...Oreo shake, Kit Kat shake, the whole nine yards...
We ordered the Boca Grande Special Fries to start with (Rs.60)...it comes with two types of dip...covered in warm gooey cheese..heaven.
It was quite a challenge to decide on a main course...everything was on our "have-to-try" list...We finally settled on the spinach and corn lasagne (Rs.120) that was served with garlic bread and had the creamiest tomato-based sauce...the next thing was a penne veggie pasta that lets u choose ur own dressing...it was light but filling...9.5/10...
Thers a host of subs and sandwiches and burgers and pizza...and a surprisingly true to original italian side of the menu...
Go here for the excellent variety, total value for money (meal for 2 including dessert Rs.450+) and relaxed atmosphere...

This place caught my eye the previous day when I was heading for dinner in koramangala. Next day, a colleague also spoke about his experience here.
This was enough and I could not wait longer to go there.
Boca Grande is made up in a house converted to an eat out. You could park your bikes / cars in the vacant site next to it.
The portico nicely designed is completely used for the dining purpose.
When you enter, on the left hand side, neatly placed tables on the pebbles would be found with a small waterfall towards the wall. There are a few more tables placed in front of the entrance.
They have used a black stone slab for the tables placed here. As you go in, you would find a huge hall ahead with the ice cream, salad counter placed on the right hand side. Take a few steps to the mezzanine floor to find the dining area. When we went, there was a party going on here hosted by an IT major in Bangalore.
One would find the kitchen with a semi transparent door - the idea is to let the visitors have a sneak peek into the kitchen and know whats going on there.
Next to it is a stair way which takes you to the first floor lounge where the chic and trendy couches and the big flat screen TVs are found and one would find people who are leisurely spending time here, feeling @ home, comfortable leaning on the sofa and resting their legs on the table.
There’s also a space for shopping :) you find designer clothes to artifacts to the feng shui stuffs for sale!!
Welcome to Boca Grande!! I am sure with the kind of service offerings they have, my kinda people would barge in more frequently.
Boca Grande which means “Big Mouth” in Spanish and Italian, they call themselves a lounge pad and a place to meet, greet and most definitely eat. It’s a restaurant, café, dessert bar and ice cream bar..
This is a joint venture between Java City and Flavors and is completely wi-fi enabled and an added advantage for our techies in Bangalore.
My friend and I opted to sit in the portico. The ash tray on the table had a piece of chalk in it. Though tried to figure out why that was there initially, we realized, it was for us to use it to play games using the table slab as the board!! Oh yes! They offer multiple games… from board games to others at no extra cost.
I could also notice a number of quirky statements on their walls which definitely attracts the attention. Now, coming to the substance – the food, let me start with the menu card. It came in a big paper bag and was like a jigsaw puzzle. Different cards for desserts, ice creams, pizzas, salads, pastas, drinks etc.. Each card had segregations - Herbigorge (Veg) and Omnigorge (Non-veg).
We ordered the black current American soda pop and I selfishly sipped to my satisfaction. It was served in a huge glass and wish I had more. Just loved it.
The potato wedges spicy was the best I have ever tasted till date. Pizza comes in one standard size (medium). This one is definitely something that needs a mention here. Made of thin crust and crispy to taste. A Must try!!
Finally, we came to an end and relished the Rum to hell (rum and raisin) and the brownie sundae ice cream.
We very badly wanted to try Oooozy Goooozy which is their speciality. Thanks to the waiters who informed us that it would take atleast 30 minutes to prepare as its baked fresh. Next time, I’d make sure I order it in prior and enjoy what I am craving for.
Look out for some live music from the famous bands and the amateur college bands, merchandising (Mugs and T-Shirts) and the Breakfast menu soon.
For the 2 of us, the bill was around 400 plus.
I’d definitely recommend this place for all those who are wanting to have a different experience, leisurely spend time, play games, enjoy the food from breakfast to dinner with lip smacking drinks (FYI: Alcohol is not served here)
It’s a place not just to have food, but definitely enjoy and take back the experience along and come back for more
A biiiig thumbs up for Boca Grande!!
