Really Rubbish

How could they make such dirty dosas. No where in Bangalore have I eaten such crap dosas. The milkshake I ordered was very powdery..I could hardly drink it...it costed Rs45 for a powdery Vanilla milk shake.
Yuck!!
I will never go there again.

A piece of Bangalore's history

India Coffee house is a piece of Bangalore's history (notice how I still call it "Bangalore"). The coffee is a tad too strong if you ask me, though I love the egg sandwiches. Let's be honest, ICH is palatable only because of its old world charm, quaint interiors and eclectic customers. The food is quite average, well on the other hand what can you expect with the really affordable prices?

Cons - Have any of you walked past the loo on the way to the first floor? I cant imagine how many years have gone by since that place saw the light of a single phenyl bottle. The stench is so atrocious that it almost becomes a virtual wall stopping from people coming down from the first floor and people going up to it.

quaint place

a quaint old place with the waiters looking like they have appeared from a bygone era. the grub is actually very average and all served with a fork and knife (even dosas).
The ambience is old world but comfortable. a nice place to hang out for a cuppa when close to mg road

Have the scrambled eggs come from heaven ?

After decades in Bangalore , this is my first time in India Coffee House .

We go past a wood and steel entrance , and decide to sit upstairs. We go through steps from the ark , a collection of thrown away furniture accumulated in a chajja, and walk into another scrubbed place on the first floor . Its a time warp , 40's posters , crumbling walls, spindly tables and all.

But it has soul, its not trying to be , or recreating an ambience.
It just is.

We sit down on brown plastic sofas , and I blink when a turbanned waiter from a colonial era comes in to take our order. The last I saw this was in an Army Mess 20 years ago.

Conversation seems to flow in India Coffee House . The place has a college debating room feel to it . We find ourselves happily arguing on a variety of topics, and it seems to feel right . Raised voices, waving hands , a conversation that creeps into 5 different avenues , with the waiter gently sidestepping waving cigarettes and hands , while aroma of fresh coffee gently wafts around .

And while I regret coming here instead of Kadambam, my friends suggest I order the scrambled eggs and coffee. Tip: Ask the waiter to bring extra toast , ALONG with the eggs, but thats about all I am willing to say on this subject .

You do not ( I repeat , do NOT ) mess with perfection.
