Certainly not a place to spend money and time
I was a frequent customer of Bay of Bengal. It was one of the places which had a good combination of service coupled with reasonable prices and good food. But on my last visit all these seem to be shattered. I had visited the restaurant on the 28th of June at around 10 p.m. We first ordered for a fish fry which does not even conform to the standards of what bijoli grill offers in kolkata. Next we ordered for Prawn Pulao, Pabda Jhal, Mutton Kosha and Baby Naan. The prawn pulao had pre-fried dry prawns scattered and mixed with the normal pulao that they serve at the restaurant. There was not at all any aroma of prawn in the pulao which we so crave for in any prawn item.
The pabda jhal was overflowing with mustard oil and had the pungent smell of undercooked mustard paste emanating from it.
The baby naan were so hard and burnt with excess salt that my jaws hurt while chewing on them.
The best surprise came from the mutton Kasha. The mutton kasha was also overflowing with excess oil and did not have the taste of a mutton kasha which is so typical of bengali cuisine. Which eating the gravy i discovered a PRAWN TAIL in it. Imagine the disappointment that we had.
We thought of downing this awful food with a glass of Sweet Salt Fresh lime Soda. We were again disappointed and vowed never to come back to this restaurant again. We had pointed out these to the management and there seemed to be no effect of the feedback on them.
The bill had come to Rs. 526 , but there was no regret while taking that money from us.
This place has lost the fizz. The standard they had started with has got lost somewhere and they dont even have the will to restore it.
The message is loud and clear, Bay of Bengal is certainly not the place to spend money or even time anymore.

Good Bengali Cuisine
I love Bengali food coz it reminds me of food back home in Bhubaneswar and this place is no where near a let down. For people who love Radha Ballabhi and Aloo Dum, I would say that this is the best place for it in Bangalore.
One note of caution would be to check the containers they pack your food in, one of mine was broken and the gravy spilt into the bag.

Bijoli Grill is one of the most well known caterers of Kolkata. They have tied up with Bangaliana of Bangalore to start this restaurant in St Marks Road. The restaurant is in the first floor above the famous KC Das sweet shop in the Church Street- St Marks Road crossing.
This is an air-conditioned joint serving authentic Bengali food. On the menu are delicacies such as Kobiraji cutlet, Fish Orly, Radhabollobi-Alur Dom. Fish items include Bhetki Paturi, Ilish sorshe and Chital Maccher Muitha.
Pricing is medium... a fish dish is around Rs 100-150 whereas delicacies like Chital Fish is Rs 170. I started with a fish orly and graduated to bhetki paturi with rice. This is bhetki fish is Bengali mustard based marinate baked inside a banyan leaf. The final dish was Ilish jhal- Hilsa fish cooked in typical hot and spicy Bengali gravy. All the food were well cooked and tasty. The proprietor told me that they fly in the Ilish everyday from Kolkata.
After a sumptuous lunch/dinner, one can go down to KC Das sweet shop just below the restaurant for a huge choice of Bengali sweets.
Dinner for two persons here can cost around Rs 400.
