It was one of the sunny days when my husband was in full mood for shopping. I was buying furniture for our new home. One of my husband’s friends had got leather sofa from Oak & Oak at good price as compared to the prices, which we had seen in the illuminated malls in Bangalore. It is situated on the left side of the Marathahalli Bridge when you are coming from airport road, the most notorious traffic jam infected bridge. The furniture there did not appeal us.
We ended up entering Malabar Coast restaurant that was very close by. I had one of my friends living close to the bridge who had given a good word about the place. I have developed taste for Kerala cuisine after marrying a Keralite at heart. The restaurant was small cool place. There was no much crowd except some college group in one corner enjoying the food. The place was clean with simple decor .A beautiful Kerala elephant décor (Nettipattam) was hung on the wall. Some potted green plants seemed to ease the summer heat.
Kerala meals and biryanai are served in plantain leaf for lunch. They serve aapam and puttu for breakfast. We were late for breakfast and early for lunch so we chose to order Kerala parotta (that’s how its spelled not paratta) and kadalacurry a coke and egg burgee. The service was quick. I must admit I have never seen kerala parotta in such great texture. The multi layered soft parotta revealed that the dough had been kneaded and boxed well. That is the real secret for the parotta to come out with several layers. My hubby gave 100 marks for parotta. The Kadala curry retained all the flavors and was not too spicy, unlike other places where its either too spicy or oily.
You can view all the planes about to land gliding every 5 mins (this will last only till the new airport is operational) and also the traffic on marathahalli bridge if you sit beside the window.J
Pricing is also very reasonable compared to Bangalore standards for authentic food. The whole meal did not exceed Rs120 for two.
I would definitely like to go there again, next time would try to make it for the break fast. 3/5àservice, Food-à3/5,only approach road is little congested.
