Tea Treat

Located away from the hustle & bustle of the city My Tea House (MTH) is a place to stimulate your mind, rejuvenate your body & elevate your soul. A melting pot of global blends, drinking tea here is a treat in itself. Fancy a smooth, relaxing, steaming cup of tea or cold, refreshing glass of iced tea. MTH is truly unitea in diversitea.

Whatever may be the variety of tea red, black, orange, white or green, it originates from the same plant camellia sinensis & MTH serves a wide range of tea under one roof in variety of flavors. It has about 50 different teas, 15 of those coming from outside India. From Japanese Tea to Green Tea, Darjeeling Tea to Black Tea, Yak butter Tea to Oolong tea, name it & its there in the menu. Reflecting multitude of cultures, it intends to initiate a new culture of Tea drinking in India. The food here tantalizes your taste buds with their rich, homemade taste. Food for the soul includes soup, salad, garlic bread, burger, cutlet, samosa, sandwiches, pizza, pasta, paratha, cakes & cookies and desserts.

It also has combo to offer. I chose Darjeeling tea with cake & veg sandwich, was worthwhile. A must try is Unitea- MTH designer tea. A unique blend of Himalayan beauty & Nilgiri sensational black tea, full bodied with seductive aroma can be relished with or without milk & sugar. And a must drink is Sikkim first flush- a connoisseur delight made from new growth buds & young leaves of the plant. As you savour the sip, you experience a delightful flavor of tea.

The ambience is peaceful & relaxing. The pleasant green color scheme of the interior & no smoking makes it more refreshing, simple yet sophisticated. The prices are average & service prompt & polite. The place also takes orders for tea parties & executive get-togethers.

Disappointment with MTH are few, the waiters are quiet and do not disturb. However, preference would be to be active & informative. The traditional tea service etiquette too was missing. T.V was blaring in the background, wise would be to play some good videos not regional soaps.

Nonetheless, with delight I indulged in my Tea Treat and leisurely read the book ‘Message in a bottle’ till my last sip.

Timing: 9:45a.m – 9:45pm daily.

good selection of regional teas

Will have to agree with the reviewer below. They have some very interesting regional teas, such as the kulhad chai, mentioned below as well. The presentation of these teas is what takes me back here. If you're looking for a good selection of specialty teas, both international and great indian regional ones, this is a good place to check out.

Another point I agree with: although this place has a good thing going, they could do better with better inter-dec.

A good option

Tea-lovers of the word unite - “Unitea in Diversitea”. I know it is a corny tag-line but My Tea House redeems itself by serving up some great varities of tea. For the I-absolutely-need-milk-in-my-tea person, there is the usual masala, cardamon, ginger teas in addition to the more exotic kulhad (or farmer) tea. The kulhad chai is served in a clay pot and the taste will make you feel like you are squatting in a barn with a buffalo mooing in the background. The Kerala-style chayyakadda is also a thick, milky tea. If you are willing to drink your tea without milk you can try the Russian, the Ladakh or the delicious Tibetian tea. My Tea House has good home-made cakes as well - try the date and the carrot cakes. Recently, they have expanded their snack menu, which I have not tried.

The decor could do with an interior designer - it has startling green paint and some of the walls look like they could do with some water-proofing treatment. However, it is spacious.

My Tea House has parking. The location is not excellent, which is why it is not too crowded and there is a lack of hipness. If it were located in Koramangala, I could imagine it being swarmed with PYTs.
