Queens was once referred to, very fondly, as the only restaurant in Bangalore that serves "phulkas" (for the uninitiated a phulka is a fluffier, lighter version of the traditional North Indian roti and almost a staple in all households). There's a lot of competition on that front now but Queens still manages to stand out amongst the newbies and retain the simple basics that made it the gold standard once.
The restaurant is located in a shady part of Church Street, and if you're not looking for the trademark green canopy on it's outside (amidst the jumble of small shops and parked motorcycles around) you might just miss it. The decor inside isn't much better (old style mud walls and dull lighting) and can even be a tad unappetizing for someone who doesn't know the place well but the food is well worth those dampeners. It isn't exactly home like food but it's very well prepared authentic North Indian with the spices and the flavours got perfectly right. The choices are limited (as compared to most other North Indian eateries in Bangalore) and the menu hasn't changed in years (or hadn't till I was there last) but almost everything on it is worth a try.
One small note: Do make a reservation in advance or you might end up waiting for a good half an hour or more before you're let inside.

No place like Queens. If you haven't been there, weep. Angeethi is a serious challenger to the throne, but Queens squeaks by on several counts.
We are steadily working our way through their menu and haven't been disappointed yet. No surprises on the menu -- standard Punjabi fare, but their secret seems to be super fresh ingredients, and meticulous execution on time tested recipes.

A vegetarian heaven, this little, hole in the wall restaurant is the place to go for some delicious ghar-ka-khana. It also serves non-veg but the vegetarian food is what you should indulge in for complete bliss. Packed at lunch time with the office and college crowd from MG Road and Church Street, Queens is dark and dingy with cave paintings on the rough looking walls. Chairs and tables are arranged really close to get the maximum usage out of the available space. Don’t let all this scare you off from tasting the food. Try their tandoori rotis, stuffed capsicum (a dollop of heaven) or aloo curries and dals. Terrific – not too spicy, not too oily. The lemon juice is a winner as well. The food never fails to impress, it is always fresh and delicious. Go there when you are tired of the malai koftas and butter chickens.
Parking is not available – you have to take the risk and look for parking either on Brigade’s, Church Street or MG Road. Or maybe park at Garuda Mall. Prices are reasonable and a meal for two is approximately Rs.300.

This place is too good. I go to many restaurants - but nothing beats the vegetarian food in Queens. It does not look like it serves such yummy stuff but it does. It is very very difficult to get a place here because so many people love it. When I first started going here, it was not so well known, but now everyone has found it. Good for them, tough for me.
You should try the phulkas and dal and the aloo gobhi here. Piping hot and fresh, you will forget about everything and just enjoy the food. Eating here has become a ritual for me. But I go here only with people I really like and who feel the same way about food. It is an experience eating in Queens. My favourite place.
