Good Bangalorean Food

The idlis and dosas are amazing, coffee filtered and brewed, enough tables outside as well as inside and for the on-the-goers a place to stand and eat too.

I am defintely talking about this quaint South Indian joint on the Jyothi Nivas Road in Koramangala. Opposite the very popular bar Purple Haze and Coffee place Qwiky's. Other than for the usual South Indian affair like Idli, Vada and Dosas of variety they also have a Juice and Chat Counter operative till 8.30 - 9.00 p.m. Their chats are amazing and the milk shakes really thick. I have had their lunch once and I remember it being so filling and yummy.

The Air Conditioned restaurant is neat and standard and perfect for a regular office lunch time. Speaking of which, most of the patrons here are people from the nearby firms and students.

Good solid south Indian -- worth searching it out.

You would think this is an easy thing to get right but so many Udupi's and Sagar's fall short of the mark.

This one, however does it right.

Good food. Decent portion sizes. Reasonable (if a little high) prices. Friendly service.

Sit inside, sit outside. Enjoy the "sights" from nearby women's college.

And clean. I remember thinking after I left the last time "hey that place wasn't filthy like most of it's competitors." Usually I am trying not to look too closely at the floor, the walls, and the kitchens in places like this. Just eat and be happy. Udupi Krishna Bhavan is different.

A great food experience in Koramangala

I have been patronizing the restaurant for several years now. In summary, it offers very good and authentic Mysore/Bangalore food, I must say. There is a very light meal on offer for 35+ (year old!) folks, comprising some rice, huli (sambar) and saaru - as good as mum makes (or used to, till recently!). The happalas (pappad) are very yummy, one must add. The regular meal and the deluxe meal are for a more relaxed experience, with tasty supplements like mini-Dose, Ambode and other delicacies rotated through the week. End of week is the banana leaf fare which is also a delightful experience - interesting stuff like certain types of payasa being on the menu.

They also offer the standard a la carte North Indian fare which is quite delightfully and lightly flavored - a refreshing difference from the excessively spicy and oily food that is often the characteristic and bane of North Indian food in Bangalore.

Extremely courteous and old-worldly service - and brings back memories NMH's, Shastry Lunch Homes and MTR of the old Bangalore.

Do mind the crowds at certain times in the afternoon - you may have to wait, if you dont have reservations, for perhaps close to 20-30 minutes to be seated.
