Best italian in bangalore!

Italian in Marathahalli! Sounds like a misfit(?) and the decor does betray that.

The decor felt wierd. Were they trying to look 'green' like Little italy? Most of their waiting staff was from Little Italy, by the way.
But somehow that green colour in this restaurant, multiplied with the green lamps, is a highly unappetising sight! And the seating is not very comfortable either.

This is vastly made up for by the food though. Thank god!
This place is a gem when it comes to the food and I am really praying hard that it remains this way!

The 2 italian chefs scurrying about the restaurant tables make a happy sight too. Adds to the "authentic" tag I guess.

One of the best on this side of town

If you're looking for dinner/lunch on the Outer Ring Road near Marathahalli, your choices are limited.

This is a new place, and having some teething problems, but it's pretty good. It got rave reviews when it first opened -- we'll see how it holds up over time.

It's authentic Italian, so some of my Indian friends have said it's bland and boring. Some of them even put ketchup on their pizza. (the horror!) Fortunately for me the Italian chef didn't grab them by the scruff of their necks and throw them out. In Italy he might have.

Pasta dishes can be a little small in size (just like in Italy folks), but are tasty.

Pizzas are real Italian style, cooked in a home-made wood-fired oven. One pizza per person, really.

Good bread with olive-oil/vinegar is served, and the anti-pasti is/are also a good choice.

Downsides: 1) Once they were out of beer. That's not planning well.

2) They have been out of some key cheeses and meats at times. That's probably down to the importers not coming through for them.

Go now, before everyone else finds it!

It's good just to have a few restaurants on the East side of town, avoiding the town centre traffic, even better when they're this good.

We were met at the door by the manager who greeted us by name having already checked the reservations for the evening, and we received very good service throughout. The decor is simple but stylish, the main investment having been made in bringing over 2 genuine Italian chefs (always good to have a spare). I can recommend the pasta with lamb and rosemary ragu, and not only was all the food delicious the quantities were just the right size too. The staff couldn't have been more friendly, when my husband mentioned he'd spent time in Rome the chefs were brought over to meet him, and we also met the owner of the business, a very friendly man who you can tell from his mannerisms etc spends a lot of time in Italy!

The Italian flat breads were particularly good, from which I suspect I shall try the pizza next time if it's cooked in the same way. I'm not sure how authentic the tiramisu was, there wasn't the taste of amaretto or marscapone I would normally expect, but I suspect they probably struggle to find all the ingredients they need here so I was willing to let them off. Even if not very traditional, it still made for a very tasty chocolatey pudding.

Cost was good - we had a nice bottle of pinot grigio with the meal, which was reasonable, but without this extra expense the 3 course meal for 2 would have come to less than Rs2000.

I suspect this place could become very popular very quickly....
