Left me disappointed

When it came to eating out, I always considered Mast Kalandar a good option for economical vegetarian north indian fare. However my recent visits to their Koramangala branch were a bit of a let down. The food quality seems to have come down a bit as compared to the earlier experiences. Their Dal Makhani, parathas were not the same, and there was a marked drop in quality. To discount this as a one-off experience I decided to visit them again last month. However there was no improvement. I ordered a papdi chat for my son, and this turned out to be a major disappointment. Hope my feedback to the concerned staff makes a difference.

The Wow Meal

I would normally not give a meal this caption. However, I am forced to give this caption to avoid feeling guilty later of not doing justice of what I just ate.

These guys are good - real good - and particularly when you see the wallet factor.

I has a Halka Phulka Meal here together with a buttelmilk for around 100 bucks. I could not ask for more. the meal was great - wholesome, tasty and just right on the pocket. Buttermilk was awesome and I managed to finish the huge serving.

I would keep coming back for more of there. There are many more to try out in the menu.

The only scope to improve is to play English music, but I guess the Bollywood goes better with the Indian food.

I was told they have a loyalty card and I will enroll the next time I go there.

Its just another way to get some more WOW's in youe life.

Lots of wows to go.....

Quick, healthy and reliable

Helpfully situated in places which are quite heavily populated with offices, MK gives the perfect combination of the 5 things that define a workday lunch - good location, speed of service, the 'health factor' , the 'wallet factor' and consistency.

Mast Kalandar offers various combo North Indian meals which let you get your daily dose of veggies with 2 subjis that come with a healthy sized portion of rice or different bread options. The rajma, chole and bharta options I've had have all been decent. You can also add a jaljeera or a lassi to the mix for about Rs.50 more.

While I won't say that the food is so tasty that you'll waltz out in raptures; it is the good, basic 'ghar ka khaana' types that'll fill you up without clogging your arteries. And when you consider that these bigger than average portion sizes come at very reasonable prices between Rs.75 and Rs.100 per combo, your wallet will come out relatively damage free too.

I've been here atleast 5-6 times and I'm happy to report that the quality of the food and the speed of service have been consistent throughout.

So while this might not be the place to go to for a special meal with the family or your friends, it's definitely the place to catch a reasonably priced, healthy(ish) and quick meal.

Great Place for Regular Eat Outs

I knew I would miss this restaurant chain when I would leave Bangalore. And the reason is its uniquely tasty yet less-greasy and less-spicy food they have to offer.
One may complaint about having lesser variety then an ordinary restaurant, but you wont like to have those paneer butter masala or veg kolhapuri, though they have some sinfully tasting stuff too.

It has special list for the ultra health conscious like saag, maize/ragi roti etc., which adds to the confidence of the young Bangalore who must eat-out quite often :-)
