Best Sizzlers!

Had been to this place a couple of times in the past but hadnt quite explored the sizzlers here. So..on a sat night while there was a long wait at destinations such as De Italia & Little Italy ..and when Penne changing its tables sizes to look like another 'Shiv Sagar'..we called Out of the Blue & the receptionist was very helpful & told us that our table will be ready by the time we get there!
We ordered for a Tomoto Bisque & Basil soup which was strictly ok...the garlic bread along was again as passe. Howver, I was impressed with thier selection of wines and thier iced tea was above par. Then came in our main order of sizzers - We ordered for the veg in tomato sauce with butter rice...and i must say that this is the best sizzler i have ever had...surpassing yokos by yards...The flavor the sauce and the veg were perfect and i couldnt have asked it better done. I would revisit this place again and again just for this dish.
The over all ambiance and staff/service is excellent. Must visit for sizzer lovers.

Out of The World!!

So I finally made it to Out of The Blue after much delay and despair. With tables already booked we did not have to wait outside (though confusion amongst the gang led us to book 2 tables instead of one!!) The hostess, who was extremely helpful, helped us out of the whole conundrum by directing us to where the rest of the gang was sitting!
Anyways, getting back to the review, the first thing that hit me about the place (besides the courteous hostess) was the decor and ambiance. Till date, I haven't been to a place where I wanted to stay longer not because of the food but for the look and feel of the place. It also has a live singing performance which adds to the whole experience of dining at Out of The Blue.
Fast forwarding to our orders, we first started off with drinks and a starter. Drinks included, Cinderalla, Virgin Pincolada, Blue Driver, Italian Kiss and Guava Fizz. Fortunately for me, I could try out all these drinks. They also have a pretty impressive selection of wines and hard drinks as well. The only think I can really say is, order what you want, you will not be disappointed in the drinks departments. The mocktails, were made out of fresh fruits which was quite evident from the taste.
The starter, Cottage Cheese CorianderJalepenos Paneer, was yummy though a bit bland.
We also ordered for the Cheese Fondue which was quite filling and we were unsure whether after that we could possible have the main course. However, we decided, why not so ordered for: Paneer Steak Paprika, Chicken and Prawn pasta, Chicken Masala Mafia, Grill Breast Chicken and the Desi Veg shaslik.
The Italian stuff was quite good though the quantity of chicken and prawns was a little less than say what you get at Da Vinci, but the penne was awesome and the quantity good as well!
The veg sizzlers were a delight really. The Paprika Sauce was just something quite extra ordinary. between the two who ordered the veg sizzlers, nearly 5 servings of Paprika sauce were shared!!!
My friend, who thought he ordered a sizzlers but ended up ordering a BBQ, was served the BBQ as a sizzler on request (yes yes with cheese on top of it!), which I thought was a really good gesture from the management.
We paid Rs.3262 for a sumptuous meal coupled with an amazing ambiance, very very courteous hostesses/waiters/management and a live performance from a really good singer! It was a delightful sight to see people singing along!
Out of The Blue is definitely on my list of 'special dining places for special occasions'. And just for the record, we were celebrating our friend's birthday!

Gotta love the food

I have been a regular at Out of the Blue. The selection here of the various varieties of dishes is great. Love the Stuffed Mushroom sizzler here and the Pizza fondue rocks.

The service is friendly although waiting times can get annoying.
What impresses me is that the restaurant is ready to tweak the dishes as per your liking with a smile. This I believe is the mark of any good restaurant.

Do enjoy yourself with the great deserts in the end. Highly recommend this place.

Good food, good ambience.

We were seated about an hour after we arrived. So make reservations before you land up there. We stuck to Italian on our visit and weren't disappointed in the least. The pastas were delicious, the bruschetta was good and the desserts were good too. The tables, I thought, were a bit too close to each other.
The service was friendly, if a little slow. Oh, and they do read the feedback - i got promotional stuff on my email.
All in all, a must visit place. Food much better (and cheaper) than Olive next doors.

A perfect Sunday lunch!

Die hard townies need a really good reason to make a trip to the suburbs especially for Sunday lunch. So what dragged us to "Out of the Blue"?An airport drop at an odd time like 12 made it impossible for us to eat lunch before or make it in time for a lunch after. So we thought we'd lunch in Bandra instead.

Our young daughter who loves hanging out with her friends in Bandra recommended this place which she said has recently opened. The USP she said was actually its restroom!!!!!! What a strange thing - I always thought people went to restaurants to eat but obviously having a good restroom is a plus.

We were told to go down the street from the Cafe Coffee Day corner at Carter Road till we came to the restaurant. But going down we realised meant going up - because this is a hill ( duh??) . Anyways, we very nearly passed the Blue board announcing its name and were about to turn back home when we saw it.

After this unpropitious start, I was a bit apprehensive about how the experience would turn out. Would it be a generational clash? Would it be another re-inforcement of how terrible the service is in the suburbs? My worries were unfounded.

A pleasant hostess gently reminded me that I was over an hour later than my reservation but still escorted us to a nice table overlooking the courtyard.

While the decor is not spectacular, it had a comfortable and pleasant feel. The air conditioning was just right, the resturant suitably full and a general air of happiness. The outside looked equally tempting despite the May heat thanks to the canopy placed over head which made dancing patterns of muted sunlight on the tables below. Soon after we settled down, we heard the wonderful sound of the Beatles and were surprised to find that it was not a recording but the regular singer ( Sagrif the hostess told me though I am quite sure this is not his name). She said that he and his friend play in the evenings on weekdays while he plays on the weekends. So this was an unexpected bonus - a live singer who actually sang well and could sing the songs we asked for. Of course our requests were not unusual but there are some singers who have not heard of Frank Sinatra let alone "My Way". So if a singer can give us his rendition of "My Way", it definitely puts him high on our scale of a good musician.

The food we had was simple : A Caeser's Salad, a spaghetti in tomato sauce and a Penne with creamy sauce with ham and chicken. The portions were just right and tasty - not too cheesy and not pasty.

The staff were courteous and helpful with the young hostess obligingly carrying our requests to the singer. The waiters were polite and willing to please by taking back the not so cold soda and getting us a bottle that was chilled to our satisfaction.

While the place is not cheap, it is definitely value for money and with the singer thrown in - worth making a trip from town!

And yes, the restroom is unusual - with actual Art works on the wall! "Out of the Blue" has a distinctly "young" feel, quite unlike the restaurants in town which seem OOOOLD and jaded - at least full of old people ( may not be chronologically but definitely attitudinally).
