For anybody who wants to try maharashtrian food in bangalore, this is it! Thalipeeth, Bhakri bhaji, brinjal curry with peanut gravy, poha ,dabeli, vada pav, and pooris with aamras/shrikhand.

This is a road side place and looks like(and could be mistaken for) a darshini. It is bang opposite KC Das and on the road adjoining Big Bazar in Jayanagar 9th Block.
There are precisely 4 tables on the narrow pavement and no chairs.
It's run by a lady from pune and the food looks like its made fresh and it tastes very authentic. The place is quite hygenic and the pricing can be called cheap(since these food items are a speciality in bangalore).
Vada Pav is for 14bucks and saboodana kichdi for 25. Bhakri bhaji etc is 40 bucks.
Most of the stuff is snack-like but by eating multiple portions you could make a meal out of it.
The buttermilk is delicious. Simply great!
I really wish they would open a retaurant some day and serve a complete thali!

I went there with a Maharashtrian friend of mine and he was delighted to eat all those he’s been missing for quite a while.
Started with Dabeli and I was bowled over, though my friend was telling me whats missing in it, what should be added more, how can they make it better etc... I continued to relish the food, got too involved and did not pay much attention to what my friend was saying. Later we tried the Sabudana khichdi, sabudana vada and the shrikhand puri. Wow!! Am drooling again. Cant wait to go back for more.
Saw the glee in my friend’s eyes. Had never seen him so happy after he moved to Bangalore. He immediately called up his mum and told her he’s found a place which serves the maharashtrian food and she was excited too :)
My friend had a complain… he was unhappy about the prices and was comparing it with his hometown. Well, for us it’s a delicacy and it comes with a price
We had a happy return to our respective places with a overloaded stomach

The wada-paav immediately reminded me of Aamchi Mumbai. Misal Paav, Thalipeeth, Sabudana Wada ... finally found a place to escape to for having food that I really really like!
I am pretty sure of heading back there soon! To have Puri-Srikhand and Bhakri!
Unassuming place, resembles any other darshini in Bangalore in appearance. The price puzzled me a bit because the most I pay for a wada-paav back home is 6 bucks and here I paid more than twice that amount. Same goes for Misal Pav. But getting home food away from home makes up for that :-)
Food is freshly cooked once you place the order and it is clean also. The serving time is fine considering that they make it once you place the order.

Bleedie, ask that owner to stop chewing paan while serving us food. It grosses me out 100%. Sickening. :-|
Otherwise, the vada-pavs and sabudana vadas are actually very nice. :-D

Heaven for home-sick Maharashtrians, Rajvardhan’s is a tiny little standing room only darshini-type restaurant located in Jayanagar. Dishing out Marathi dishes such as vada pav, sabudana vada, sabudana kichdi, thalipeet and shrikhand puris, this unassuming place certainly proves that authenticity rocks.
Of course, we tried the famous vada pav – the spicy, potato vada stuffed between two pieces of tava-toasted pav. We plunked it into the pungent date (?), tamarind and chilli sauce and bit into it. The multiple flavours of fiery sauce, the crispy pav and the delicious aloo combined together to give The Best Vada Pav in Bangalore. Next item – a Gujarathi snack called dabeli. Similar in structure to a vada pav – a desi sandwich so to speak – only the filling is very different. This light snack is an exotic mixture of pomegranate, crunchy groundnuts and vegetables between the pav bread and was delicious. Now completely eager to try more, our next choice was the kanda poha. Made from poha (avalakki) spiced with green chillies, groundnuts and seasoned with mustard and curry leaves, with a dash of lemon and coriander leaves, it was quite perfect. And, we washed down this meal with yummy lassi.
The cost of this entire meal was about Rs.60. Rajvardhan also sells spice powders such as onion garlic powder and peanut garlic powder and pickles and sweet and salty snacks. They also serve parathas which are supposedly very good. I highly recommend that you go there for authentic Maharashtrian food.
