New Mast Kalandar - Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Naa
Phew - I figured this Mast Kalandar in Koramangala I block - very close to where I work, opposite to Reliance Fresh on the 80 ft. road. Thank God I now have one each near my office and home.
This one is done up well. it boasts of a new decor, something which I like. This is colorful and music is nice.
Most importantly, the food is as great as ever. The Sinful Punjabi Paneer just melts in your mouth. It also has some really good additions but I stuck to what I was used to. Also tried the Mango Lassi AGAIN - no body does it better than these guys.
All I paid was around 100/- odd. This is good deal compared to all the other so called fine dining places with four times the prices.
They have also started deliveries - so I plan to have a office delivery done on the next Friday for my group. They pack neatly and we can eat in the conference room itself.
Trust me - this is worth a try...only prob is that it is on the first floor - but I really dont mind climbing for the great high that I get from this food :-))
I bet this chain is a boon for people like me....

costly food + tax - no service
The food is decent, but not a real value for money. The menu is on the high end + taxes added to it, and there is no service. You have to order at a counter. The place is too small for the crowd that comes in. The washroom is tiny and UNISEX.
I am not sure of the delivery charges, but they have delivery, so sit comfortably at home and eat. (light on pocket if there are no delivery charged...)

Consistent quality
The food is good - exactly similar to what you get in the the Bannerghatta Road restaurant. A lot smaller though than the spacious main branch :-(. But this place is like the McDonalds of Blore - with consistent quality and atmosphere. And clean loos as well. Had the healthy sprouts combo which came with dal makhani, raita and a salad and it was good.

'Designer' North Indian grub, anyone?
It's funny, the number of vegetarian joints I've been hitting since I moved to this city, but blame Mast Kalandar for being within 'burrping' distance from my office and a couple of good referrals that I got from colleagues...I've already been to the place twice in the last 10 days.
For those of you put off by the title of this review, well it IS exactly that. Decent dal-subji-roti-chawal-raita ensembles with a twist are what you will get here. Sample if you will, some of the items from their menu: 'Biryani with a Twist', 'Tex Mexx Parathas' and 'Xing Thing' (I hope I remember it right). Well, a little creativity never hurt anyone and it definitely helps if the food tastes good and the service is quick. I was hoping however that their Rajma Chaval combo had the Rajma and rice all mixed up and served.
(Pssst, if anyone from the restaurant is reading, they would do well to zing up their Rajma a little bit more - it needed a little more of both salt and spice.)
Prices are nice - most combos that are a satisfying meal for one come under the Rs.90 range. The interiors are nice and bright, you don't knock elbows with the people at the next table and, hallelujah, the glasses in which they serve water are clean!
What would I give it on my Go-back-there-and-eat-scale? 7.5 on 10.
