Good food, good ambiance
Good food, good ambiance, great location ... why the heck is this place empty? Oh I'm sorry, did I forget to mention, it's at the top of Mombay Store on MG Road, without any (or with minimal) advertising outside?
Tai Tai is a small, cozy place at the top of Bombay Store, and the food served is supposedly Pan Asian, with a few global influences in it's cuisine. The decor, the china, the tables and chairs will make you feel like your at a fine dining place. They have a sit down buffet for a little over Rs. 250/- where you get to pick a salad, an appetizer, an entree and a dessert. You could also order off the menu, and the dishes looked yummy, with a good variety for veg and non-veg.
The food that was served tasted very good, as did the couple of starters we ordered off the menu. The presentation was good too, but since there are hardly any soouls at this place, it's difficult to converse above a whisper, for fear of the whole place resonating with your voice. I just wish they advertise this place more.

Why is it empty?
This place has excellent food, an understated elegance, unobtrusive service, a decent bar and isn't exorbitantly priced. What the heck is Bangalore waiting for?
The food isn't traditional Asian, it's plated which makes for a welcome change to the rice/noodle + gravy melange that one has to order. Most of the pairings are fairly unconventional but work very well.
My personal favourite is the burmese lamb stew.
Desserts, though, could be better. Too vanilla for their menu.

Worth "a" shot
Its really is.We had to sit in the terrace as it was the only smoking area in the restaurant.Barring the food all else is very plain jane.
gautam, the exec chef owns the place.Great guy, food lover.his recommendations are great.try the roasted beef or Somtam.really nice.I would still give it a 5 on 5 for its food.1 on 5 for decor(bathroom's really nice tho)

My new favourite
If you are a foodie who loves Asian food, particularly Thai, this restaurant is guaranteed to satiate all your senses. My summary of the place - superbly presented food that tastes as good as it looks!
I had the lunch buffet and it was fabulous. The meal started off with a very wide range of starters and salads. I pretty much tasted everything – it looked so good. Vegetarian options that blew my socks off included the grilled noodle salad, the green papaya salad and the banana stem salad. Light yet luscious! For the bird and meat-eaters, the grilled beef salad was exquisite, so was the chicken satay. The prawn tom yum soup – the best I have ever had.
Main course options were three – pad thai or rice with green or red curry. All three came with either vegetables, chicken or prawn. We chose the chicken pad thai and the steamed rice with chicken red curry. While the emphasis on the starters is exquisite blending and balance of different ingredients and flavours, the main course scored highly with me for its very basic, back to the roots taste. While I feasted on the red curry and rice, I could imagine myself sitting in a Thai farmer’s kitchen. The dish had a wholesome, country flavour to it.
The dessert options did not look too exciting – I picked the chocolate mud pie and decided to skip it after two bites. Not bad – but not worth wasting calories on.
Décor at Tai Tai is bright and cheery – lots of light, rattan chairs, cheerful walls. You can choose to sit inside or dine at the open air terrace area.
The lunch buffet is priced at Rs.250 per head excluding taxes and includes soup, salad, starters, main course and dessert. Valet parking is available at the basement (it is located above Bombay Store in MG Road).
