After reading glowing reviews int he hindu, we ended there with another family friends of ours - a total of 4 adults and 4 children. After placing the order, we were told it was 10 - 15 mins away . We waited 50 mins to get the food, this after keeping after them that the children were really hungry (it was 2 PM already). We were told that this was due to it being Ramzan but wish they had been more upfront with us. We might have just come back to them on another day. Also we found food lying exposed at the counter and in general the atmosphere was unhygenic - stained, grubby walls/floors. The food was alright but overall I do not recommend them as a destination restaurant.

I vouch for the vegetarian biryani too! I also liked how well the food was presented. Service was a tad slow though and many items on the menu unavailable.

This is the place where most middle eastern guys hang out. Could be because of the name of the place which states Arabian food.
Found it decent till y'day when I had shawarma from there. It was bland to the extreme, dry and not even pickled chillis to go with it. Have had better shawarmas from any of those shawarma places in Kerala. Must be the 'Gelf' influence. The 'Gelf' influence does not really seem to have had an effect on Zak's.
All in all decent food, but nothing which makes you go sluurrrrrrpp.

Now this is finally a good restaurant in Bangalore. The food is excellent - we had the meat platter. The hummus was very tasty. Tea was superb - and I almost never drink tea.
In a city like Bangalore - as far as I am aware - most places, with the exception of South Indian joints and Koshy's - lack character. They are very generic places with generic to fancy decor, unreasonably high prices and mediocre food. Thats why a place like Zak's stands out. Good food and cheap - extremely satisfying. The decor could be improved but I suppose that would change the place. I would strongly recommend a trip there - especially if you are not a herbivore.
