This place is very unhygienic. Plates were not clean. Chutny enjoyed by previous customer were still present in the plate they gave food for me. When I asked for clean plate, they went behind door, wiped it with a dirty towel and gave. But still chutny remained. Yyyuuukk.. !!! Spoons were full of white water.... I think they do not wash plates and spoons. They just dip them in dirty water....The back side of the plate was oily (I felt it when I carried the plate in my hand). No better than road side food stall.. probably that is better. -

Upsouth - Over expensive "Sagar" restaurant 2012-05-05
Although the branding outside looks nice Upsouth starts to disappoint as soon as you enter. They did not have the AC on in during the hot Bangalore day, which you would expect given the pricing. Adding to this was the smoke from the kitchen and the onions being cut inside were making my eyes watery! The only salvage being that the service is fast , least you would expect out of a McDonald style fast food restaurant . -

This south indian joint is located diagonally across bangalore central jp nagar.
They have a varied menu of south indian tiffin and rice items.
The combos are quite good with small enough quantities for one person to finish a plate. The taste is good and we particularly liked the dosa and curd vada.
Not heavy on the pocket, and worth the money paid, but quite crowded around dinner time. -

Consistent Quality and Improving 2011-11-18
I had been to this joint several times since I have first spotted by sheer sperendipity. Since then I must say, I had a very consistent experience on almost all the parameters and indeed they are improving in some respects. However there is also a sore point that they need to clean up ..quite literally... the environment for overall better upkeep.
Food Variety: Pretty good
Taste: Superb... specially the differentiator is the crispy vada with soft core
Customer Service: impccable and proactive
Ambience: typical of QSR...just good can be better

Awesome South India fare 2011-11-06
Firstly, this is place is located conveniently located close to the Central mall.
I think the prices are slightly on the higher side but comparable with any of the Sagar's having a service hall. Ambiance is nice and staff are friendly. I have noticed the service is little slow though it was not a peak hour.
I tried one of the combo's and all the items were really tasty. Most of the South India eateries offer a wide variety of things including North India, Chinese but miss out on the finer aspects of taste.
Upsouth is quite different and must visit place.

We have been to this joint, today for a snack at 11am
I must say that we are truly delighted with the :
- consistent quality of the food
- nice upkeep and cleanliness
- inviting ambience and simple yet elegant environment
- the hot n crispy lightly crusty but soft cored Uddina Vada, is the stealer once again. Guess we are sold out on this item right from the first visit
Well, they could pay better attention in maintaining the hygiene and cleanliness on the steps leading to the first floor sit out. Would love to have the quintessential south Indian fare from this... read more -

I stopped here today to try out the joint. I was in for a surprise as customers were made to wait for the food they ordered. hey it's a FAST FOOD JOINT remember. The rates are pretty good. The food is amazing don't miss out the veg cutlet, it's really good. Except for the delay in food, it's all worth it in the end. You definitely have to try out the joint. -

Nice uplifting experience 2011-05-19
We have just happened to bumpt into this nice joint on Wednesday. Overall ambience is great; but can be made better by playing the traditional carnatic or south Indian music or modernized version of the same in soft lilting tones...
The variety of snacks and the delicate taste of typical south indian ( not of local fare or of its ilk in terms of taste thankfully) is truly mesmerizing. Its just ideal either for snacking or a regular "meals" type.

After a long day at work, I walked into McDonalds at Central Mall Jayanagar to try out the new McSpicy range. Being a veggie I opted for the paneer version. While the taste was OK, at a price tag of Rs. 89 it is grossly over-priced. Then I decided to hop across the road to UpSouth, our very own version of McDonalds! I went with a fun meal, priced at Rs. 89. It included 2 Puris, a vada, pongal, kesari bath and curd rice. It also had an option of choosing buttermilk or coffee to go with it. Refreshing Experience 2011-04-25
Thankfully there's an outlet which proves there's more to South Indian tiffin experience than what your typical darshinis, SLV's, adigas etc provide. An ambiance matching many other MNC food chains and the concept of offering combos at pretty affordable rates (70 - 90 rates are more than affordable in Bangalore standards).
