LIke the metamorphosis of the Ugly Duckling into a Graceful Swan as commonly believed in the fairlytale ..the place metamorphosises from a run of the mill featureless office building into a cozy little restaurant once you enter the place.
Black colour and wood dominate this place and it is unpretentious like their food. The place is roomy with a cozy corner overlooking a TV. It could have been someone's living room...well almost.
There was fresh draught beer to quench my thirst on a chilly winter evening :-). With it went a Roesti- a potato fritter notable for the absence of oil and the fresh home style salsa on the side.Very nice said my wife and so said I. Then came the crostini....fairly nice...but I have had better..notably at The Egg Factory.
The Minestrone Soup was very nice. The only complaints were about the portion size being too small and the accompanying garlic bread being teeny weeny.
My wife being a hardcore veggie ordered a savoury crepe..I was surprised by how the crepes came...I always assumed it would be like a Dosa ( or that is how I have seen crepes till date)...But nevertheless pronounced nice by both my wife and my hyper 3 year old daughter. I had a pesto prawns- Prawns in a pesto and served with a side of rice. Very nice and tasty...But again the same problem of the portion sizes being too small.
We skipped dessert as the beer had made it's mark in making me feel full...
Overall a nice experience and I definitely will be back. My only grouse I did not notice the 10% service charge and I added a 7.5% tip on top of that....Otherwise good food, decent service and decent pricing...
Oh..and if only we could have had a view being on the 5th floor that would have been perfect....
