I'd heard a lot about this new place on Millers Road, and was quite intrigued by it's name and the fact that it served Greek and European cuisine piqued my curiosity enough to make me want to try it out. The restaurant is owned by an Indian and a Danish national, and it's named after Hans Christen Andersen's famous story. The interiors of this place are pretty decent, and the wall is full of paintings which I thought gave the sense that they were trying hard to establish a European connection which seemed a little desperate.
We started off with iced teas, and for appetizers we ordered an egg mimosa, which is a boiled egg sliced and the solid yoke is mixed with a few things to make it a lil spicy, and we also ordered a plate of fish croquets, crumb fried, which came with a dip. Both appetizers were good, although I was a little miffed about the fact that the mimosa had finely diced raw onions in it - I prefer the onions caramelized. For our main course, we had a veg aubergine moussaka and a prawn souvlaki, which came with a spicy marinara and a bed of rice. According to my friend who's travelled a lot in Europe, the moussaka should have had a runnier cheese sauce on it, but otherwise it was ok. I'd never heard, let alone had a souvlaki, but it tasted good, although the only issue I had with it was that the prawns were skewered with tooth picks, and it was difficult to get them out of it without using your fingers - so much for cutlery!
We wound up lunch with a passion fruit gelato sorbet and a Ferrero Rocher wedge, both of which were fantastic. Overall, it was a nice lunch. The bill has a 10% service charge added to it on the total, but I'd have loved to have had some actual service, not just taking the orders and plonking them on the table when it's ready - after all, they're charging for it and I'd like to get whatever I'm paying for. All said and done, definitely worth a visit. Parking on weekdays would be a problem - you'd have to park somewhere on Cunningham rd, but on Sundays you can park inside the builing in the parking lots of the offices in the building.
