  • VFM North Indian Place 2011-08-06

The least info I knew about this place was, its in the opposite direction to where I live and they serve rajasthani, maharashtrian and gujarathi cuisine. My friend and I, reached there by 7:30PM and to our surprise, 2 tables were already occupied. It isn’t a very big place. The dining hall is plain and simple and not decked up. We got a table which is next to the huge glass window.

There was no delay in serving the water and the handing over the menu card. I was desperately looking for something in maharashtrian and gujarathi specifically and was disappointed to have not found anything relevant. When asked, we were told, it’s a North Indian Cuisine restaurant.
After being disheartened as I was prepared to eat one of my favorite cuisines, my friend and I ordered Chaas and Amm Ka Panna respectively. Chaas was the usual and good but, Aam Ka Panna was average. I felt there was something missing and it was definitely not the perfect tangy drink I expected. For the starter, we ordered Tandoori Gulistan which was Broccoli cooked in Tandoor and some cream smeared on it. This was mildly spiced and both of us loved it. Though, my friend isn’t too fond of Broccoli, he ended up liking it too. In addition to this, the love of chaats made my friend order for Papdi Chaat. This was more like a Sev Puri than a Papdi Chaat with hardly any curd in it. chaat ended up being a slight disappointment for us!

With the starter, I was already feeling heavy. However, the stomach wasn’t full enough to stop binging! For the main course, we ordered for Butter Kulcha, Missi Roti and Bhindi Jalfrazy. Kulcha was ekdum kadak and nice and so was the Missi Roti. However, in the Bhindi Jalfarzy, there was less Bhindi and more of Tomato, Onion and Peppers though it tasted brilliant, I expected it to have more Bhindi in it!

By the time, we finished our dinner, the restaurant was completely packed and there was a huge queue waiting outside to get in and get their hands on to the food. A meal for two would approximately cost 700 bucks which is quite decent. I would say, this is a perfect VFM place for north Indian cuisine in this part of the town.
