I am basically a drinker. What matters the most to me is the way booze is served. Therefore, starting from this one, all my reviews are going to be on bars and lounges ( how i hate this word) and pubs and wine shops of our bengalooru.
Blue bar is a phenomenal place to start if one is looking for quality, quantity, ambience & service all in one place.
Well, here it goes.
First things first. How many of you even know that West End Hotel, where this lovely little bar is situated is a Heritage Hotel???? ( yes, yes, we have heritage hotels in this country too)
If you have time, before hitting the bar, take a stroll in the lush green gardens this hotel has to offer. Much much better than any park, I will assure you.
But we are here to drink, right? Not to do some botanical garden survey, no matter how good it is????
Well, first things first. This is an amazing place, set in a lovely spot of the hotel. If you are sitting on one side of the bar, you will be next to a wonderful pond, where you can see a lot of fishes. Evening, just as it is getting dark, they light up a fire on this pond and it is beautiful.
But we are here to drink, right? Not to get carried away by the ambience of the place, no matter how good it is???
The place has some of the friendliest waiters I have ever come across in a bar. They recommend drinks, ensure that your poison comes fast, keep replacing the munchies, talk to you, get your food fast in case you order anything to eat..
But we are here to drink, right? Not to get carried away by the waiters, no matter how good they are???
I normally don't get carried away by a place on my first visit. Therefore, in order to ensure that the first time experience was not an aberration, me and my gurl, visited this place twice. In a matter of a week.
The first time we went there, we ordered a pomegranate margarita, a mojito & a tiramisu. The pomgegranate margarita was PERFECT. Mojito was BRILLIANT. And the thing which made us to go there again was their TIRAMISU. Equal parts of kahlua, vodka and Bailey's Irish Cream. Shaken together with lots of ice and served in a martini glass. If ever there is one drink I would love to have endlessly, this is it. The version what they serve at Blue Bar.
Harry, the person in charge of our table, recommended some chicken satay. Since Blue Ginger is next door, we thought of trying it. Ordered it. It took ages to come. As a compensatory factor, Harry served us a couple of shots of Blue Bar signature vodka shots, with blue curacao. ( By the way, satay was brilliant).
The second time we went, Missus ordered a Watermelon Margarita. Between Pomegranate and watermelon, I preferred the former version, missus preferred the latter one. Mr. Harry, like all the good barmen across the globe, has his signature Martini here. Ordered one of this to find out how good Harry's concoction would be. Turned out to be awesome.
The true test of a good bar is how best they will conjure up a simple martini. The one I had at Blue Bar was GREAT. And ofcourse I had to have my Tiramisu, which pulled me here in the first place. As good as it was the first time.
This time we, me n missus, were in a mood to drink. So no order for grub.
And we have decided to hit this place atleast once a month. Or till such time I get bored with the Tiramisu!!!
