After having visited the Blue Ginger, we thought we'd check out the Blue Bar. Apparently, we don't learn from our mistakes.
The place was rather empty on a Friday night, and even though it filled out slightly as the evening wore on, it was "too empty" compared to other bars/pubs in Bangalore that had seating room only (such as the 13th Floor Ebony).
The lighting was so poor that the waiter had to bring a pocket torch after were were squinting at the menu with our cell phone lights. The cocktails with wine were massive let-downs. The prosecco was flat and tasteless, the bellini (champagne with OJ) was flat. we had to send all our wine and champagne-based drinks back. This is not par for the course.
My cocktails were a tad better, but not by much. The single waiter either inattentive or occupied or both. With 3 "captains" standing around, the poor fella ended up doing all the leg work and causing everything to slow down.
We ordered some starters - calamari, pepper prawns and potato wedges. The former 2 were pretty poor. The calamari was cold, soft and tasteless, like it had been sitting outside, waiting for 2 sops like us to come by. The potato wedges were much better.
4 drink each down, and feeling disappointed, we left the bar and headed for dinner at the neighboring Blue Ginger - again a big mistake.
Maybe the place had an off-day, maybe the waiters had an off-day. Whatever it was, it was not as good as the other reviews claimed.
