On a tired Tuesday evening, HB and I decided to try out this joint nearest to our home. We had been recommended this place by a couple of friends, and the place lived up to the recommendation - good Continental food at slightly expensive prices. The entrance on VM road is a bit unassuming, but as we entered the poshness of the decor emerged. The clientele, quite surprisingly to me, was almost exclusively Westerners - apart from us there were maybe a couple other tables consisting of Indians. The menu card consisted of Continental dishes, and the fact that we entered at around 7:30pm might explain this statistic.
We ordered a sweet corn soup with chicken to start things off which was pretty satisfactory. For main course, I ordered the chicken breast with leeks and saffron, while HB ordered coriander rice with mixed vegetables. I was pleasantly surprised with my dish - the leeks and the cherry tomatoes were very fresh and the creamy sauce with a hint of saffron was a nice base for the sliced chicken breasts. All of this was served on a bed of thin rice noodles, and for once I didn’t complain about the starchy presence on my plate. HB’s dish was pretty delicious as well - I am always delighted at seeing paneer in mixed vegetable preparations, and the coriander rice was an interesting touch. All in all, it was a very satisfying dinner. Slightly on the expensive side - our meal cost us around R1200, but very decent Continental food.
