  • Good Mangalorean 2012-05-09

Chicken Sukkha, Kane Fry, Ghee Roast, Fish Curry and Neer Dosa

    We loved the food.

The only negative was the mussels. There was .0002micrograms of meat in each shell. I donno whether to blame the restaurant or the fisherman.....

  • Fantastic coastal fare! 2011-11-24

I love Mangalorean cuisine - seafood in particular. Wierdly enough I had never heard of this restaurant until the day we went there. On our way back home and famished, our friends suggested stopping here for lunch. What a great meal it was. Very memorable. We ordered the lunch special - Stuffed Pomfret along with Anjal Masala Fry, Chicken Ghee Roast, Neer dosa, Silverfish Rava Fry and Kane fish curry with steamed white rice. The ghee roast was a bit of a let down (although it tasted great). It was just different from the way you get it in Mangalore. The rest of the dishes were really delicious.... read more

  • NIce seafood place 2011-03-09

This restaurant was on my radar since sometime and the great reviews on burrp made it much easier :-)
I am a avid foodie but havent had much of a chance to savor good manglorean food, hence no expert on the same.
    What we ordered
    a)Mussel sukha(150)
    b)Prawn gassi(250)
    c)Sets of neer dosa
    d)kokum sherbet

The mussel sukkha was excellent ,on the spicier side but full blooded in flavor.Quantity was hugely satisfying.
The prawn gassi was a bit of a letdown ,the prawns were fresh but i did not enjoy the gravy much.
Neer dosas were excellent and went wonderfully

  • Good Mangalorean coastal fare but pathetic service 2010-12-11

If u want to taste authentic Managlore sea food, this is the place in Bangalore. The best fish curry or gashi and chicken sukka outside of Mangalore, are both served here. However be ready to spend lot of time waiting for tasty food to arrive cause the service is pathetic and very slow. Sometimes u will forget what u ordered when the dish arrives on the table. You will be scared to order something new thinking it will accompany with the dessert :) The Management needs to pull up its socks and bring in the best staff else we will doubt why this Restaurant won the Times Food Guide award in 2008.... read more

  • Well deserved accolade 2010-05-02

When I read a review some time back in the Times of India, calling this as the best Sea food restaurant in the city I was somewhat taken aback since there are quite a few as it which are good. And then when Sea Spice won an Award to boot I had to quell my curiosity. I am married to a Mangalorean and am half Mangalorean myself, so no distance was too much for us to traverse to check Sea Spice out

Sometimes, such accolades can be let downs and for someone as discerning as my better half when it comes to sea food, I must admit that it looked risky to choose this as the place for her birthday

  • Spice and Nice! 2010-02-22

After a day of obviously happy intent after reckless shopping, my family stepped into Shetty-Gardenia for lunch.
The place is welcoming with spacious interiors and nice wood work. The gigantic LCD stuck on the wall with the cricket on sure caught my husband’s attention. The stairway close to this leads you to the first floor where we have the Sea Spice restaurant. The glass door opens up to a mid-sized hall which fits about 15 tables. It mostly had family crowd.
We took one of those circular perfect dining tables close to the entrance. There was a bar counter close to our table with a

  • Dissapointing 2010-02-05

Went to this place after reading the review in the TOI. It is situated in a hotel called Shetty Gardenia. The ambience is fairly good. Though there were only 4 tables occupied with waiters hovering around, we were made to wait a good 10 mins before we only called a captain to hand us a menu card. We ordered for a beer & solkadi which we were told wasnt available. Imagine a Manglorean restaurant not having solkadi...! Then we ordered 4 starters - anjal rava fry & chicken ghee roast which were decent, Prawns sukka which was a lot of bland coconut with prawns and mackeral in masala which was uncooked... read more

  • Not worth it 2010-02-01

not sure why this place got such rave reviews. Probably it is the location...I drove down from east bangalore for this place and found this small restaurant in one corner of south bangalore...which has little options to sea food or fancy restaurants.

The prices were high for the location. The food was average. The prawn chilly was made of frozen prawns with a thick coat of corn flour. The neer dosa were so tiny. the only saving grace was the chicken ghee roast.

Kudla is any day better or the many coastal restaurants. Would definitely not recommend this place.
