Went to Rajvardhan on a Saturday morning for some good old vada pav.
Food: 4 out of 5. We ordered the vada pav and the misal pav. The best part is, they make things on order (certainly the vada) and the food comes to you piping hot. really appreciated that. Apart from catering items on the menu, they also carry goda masala, peanut-garlic chutney and a few other spices/condiments pertinent to marathi cuisine. The food was great! The vada was almost perfect. Nce and golden brown on the outside and well cooked on the inside. The misal was a touch too hot (chili) for my liking but was still pretty good. We also ordered their saboodana khichdi for a snack later. It was also pretty good. The peanut+coconut flavor was quite delicious. I wish it weren't as 'dry' on the throat but I guess that's the nature of saboodana coupled with the fact that we had t an hour after it was prepared. I had come here earlier for a 'panna' with a friend and it was absolutely fresh and outstanding!
Ambiance: As it is not an 'restaurant' it wouldn't be fair to critique their ambiance. It is a simple, unassuming next door street food shop for a quick bit, or a decent meal on the go.
Service: 3.5 out of 5. I'd say their service is quite good. The lady in charge was quite friendly and greeted us with a warm smile and was quite courteous.
Cost: 4.5/5. It's not expensive at all. I'd pay what they charge not because it's seemingly trivial street food, but because they make it authentic and not drpping with fats.
Bottom line:3.5 out of 5. I'm definitely visiting this place again for some thalipeeth, dabeli and some more panna among other things. I'd certainly recommend this place to anyone who would like to sample some regional Indian cuisine or try something other than a samosa, kachori or chaat for some street food.
