Inspite of the snazzy restaurants in the vicinity, we decided to make a beeline for Queens primarily because a few people in our group of 7 swore by its food and also because it won the BURRP Best VEG VFM award 2009 for Bangalore....For starters, we ordered paneer tikka and chilly where supposedly the paneer was succulent but the masala bland (I can vouch for the non veg items since I ate only those !!!) . We also ordered Peshawari tikka (chicken) which was good ...but again 5 pieces for 180 !!!! I'd be happier if they charged 250 but gave decent sized proportions.
Coming to the main course, there was dal (saltless, masala-less !!!!), papads (they're listed as rotis on the menu!!!), bhindi masala (ok), veg jalfrezi or some other sorta mix veg (again bland), paneer butter masala (more of garlic but fair) and chicken tikka masala (chicken in tomato puree)
This and the lights went out midway through the meal, the smell of kerosene wafted in (thanks to the generator that made a few of us real uneasy) , no table to accommodate 7 people which meant adding a flimsy chair and meant that once you sat, there was no way you could get up till until the end of the meal and long waiting times....
Overall, nothing to write home about, service levels low and would probably give the place a miss in the future...P.S. do add some mirch in the food from now on !!!!! And it would be gr8 if burrp could keep a check on the places it has recommended to see if food and service levels are still up-to the mark !!!!!
