I was there last week for dinner with my wife and sister. Well, firstly the reason I am wrinting this review - Had a full course meal to our heart's content, yet never felt heavy. Neither had the usual late night burps! Surely, it is different from any other Chinese joints in town.
However, the ambience is not too impresive, though there is a feeling of relaxing and openness. Light is too bright and few sights of cost cutting on the interiors show too prominently. Meaningless small photographs in a large wall and few cheap hanging light fixtures make a bad impression! Maybe it can be changed :) However, the non AC sections seemed more inviting - will try sitting there next time. I would rate the ambience as 3 on 5.
The glich in the ambience is shadowed completely by the exceptional food. The concept is awesome, they serve more than 35 types of dimsums. Surely, more than Mainland China and the other likes in Bangalore. The quality of food is very very fresh. Must say that there must have been an exception brain behind the concept and the food.
We had the veg and nonveg dimsum platters. Specially like the Shitake Fish and the juicy Shanghai Chicken Dimsum. The entire set of dimsums were awesome and would like to have it again. Eggdrop Chicken Soup (a signature as they mentioned) was an instant hit with my wife. I liked the sweet and sour prawn - like expected, very very different and unique from the normal restaurants. We also had the eight flavoured tofu. The tofu was fresh but could not actually make out the eight flavours. Had the claypot noodles. This went very well with the Prawns.
The service was a bit slow but I would not complain since it was receptive and very very gentle. Not the 5 star type but very friendly and warm. The manager himself came to ask about the food and our experience and we thought it was a very good gesture.
We had the ping bang for dessert. 5 scoops for 150 bucks was a steal I bet! Infact the whole pricing was the impressive part. Not at all expensive for the standard they deliver. I had been to Schewan Court before and had paid at least 7 times the amount for dinner..
