Heard a lot of good reviews about this place since it opened and I was determined to try it. Was sadly a little let down. The ambiance is good. The booth concept works well but only for large groups. A table for two (people who tend to eat well) is extremely cramped. Monkey bar does have commendable flavors, but the quantity was really disappointing.
The Tiger beef starter is impressive. Love the varied assortment of ingredients, excellent flavors.
I got the Seared Sausages as my main course, literally just two sausages which weren't even done too well. It took a lot of struggling, poking and slicing to get my fork and knife through them. However, the german potato salad that accompanies the sausages were absolutely delightful. Then again, my main was suppose to be sausages, not a potato salad.
The Chilli Con Carne again was wonderfully done but disappointing in terms of quantity. It was served in what I would normally consider a medium sized soup bowl.
Highly unsatisfying if you're looking to get a decent amount of good food. I was under the assumption that Gastro-pubs were to cater to that too. Good music and service though. That kept us smiling.
For two starters, two tiny mains that could have passed off as starters, a pint of Kingfisher and a Gin and tonic, we worked up a bill of 1,800. Not happy at all.
