  • For a Lazy Sunday Breakfast 2009-07-06

The all gals gang decided to head for a lazy weekend breakfast to this place. Thanks to the bet I?d lost. This time, the treat was on me!
Walked down from the Gandhibazaar circle towards DVG road and we found the MTR (Read as Mahalaxmi Tiffin Room here) on the left hand side after Mahila Bangles. The board containing that days menu was placed outside and I had to read it out completely as my friends are kannada illiterates!

We went in to find a very neat dining hall. For a change, this one wasn?t too crowded. Looking at the 3 of us, a waiter suggested we should take the place which is meant for families. There was always somebody continuously cleaning the floor and the tables. They were trying to keep it as neat as possible.
Both my friends ordered for vada dipped in sambhar and I ordered for one plate of idly vada. The idly was soft and the vada wasn?t as crisp as we expected. The sambhar was more on the liquid side and spicier. The chutney was the usual. Nothing great to talk about. After the vada session, my friends had to have the masala dosa without fail! After all, that?s what they?d come here for :)
The dosa was good. Though the amount of butter on it was too less for our shapes and sizes. These 2 relished it till the last bite. Thanks to other reviews on burrp! We made sure to order a cup of Carrot Halwa. This was indeed a hit amongst and without wasting much time, we ordered for one more! The carrot halwa, with right amount of sugar and with lots of raisins and cashews made our day!
To end the breakfast, my friend ordered for filter coffee and the very sight of it was attractive. The froth on the cup and the aroma made the teetotalers try it as well!

Overall a good place for breakfast and snack if not great! Definitely, a tryable option.
