'Food for Soul Week' is a unique initiative by Lovedale Foundation (www.lovedalefoundation.org) in association with restaurants across Bangalore to commemorate Joy of Giving Week.
The objective of this event is to create awareness and raise funds for Lovedale Foundation, an NGO which provides holistic education to under-privileged children from granite quarries in suburban Bangalore. Lovedale's Banyan Community School building 2011-08-23
Lovedale's new school building is completely eco-friendly. Have not seen many schools run by NGOs totally for the benefit of under-privileged children, that are eco-friendly. The school uses solar energy. the rooms are very bright and airy. Children have a well equipped playground. I recently visited the school and was very impressed with the facilities provided for children, cleanliness and a very happy atmosphere. -

AVOID this foundation like the plague! 2011-08-21
This is an insidious front for the classic con job.
Do NOT give this Lovedale Foundation any money - it is the sad face of a family that lives of donations in the name of 'under priviledged children'.
We have learnt of Westerners who have donated huge sums for nutrition programs for example - which is pocketed by the couple that "run" the finances.
Mental abuse in the extreme has been observed here.
The couple that control all the finances behind the scenes allow no social or financial audit - of course, nicely managed by their own personal team of -ahem - "auditors"

Very Unprofessional 2009-12-10
I have visited their site but the response I got was very poor. Nobody to attend me... Only few white people were there and misteriosly they afraid of talking to me.. Few kids were playing there but I am not sure how they were treated.
Anyhow I decided to donate some amount to those poor children. One lady came to my office to collect cash immediately and told within one week I'll get the receipt for it. But after 3 months also I didn't get the receipt dispite of making several calls to them. I am sure that money has not gone to the benefit of those kids.
