  • pricey for the quantity you get 2012-03-31

Went there twice. Agree with the reviewers that say the decor and service are good. Food too is good.
However, completely agree with deepti-kn below. It is too pricey, especially for the amount of food you get. I left hungry after a dinner oder of vegetable stew and appam. (Order of kerala thaali for lunch was all right though)

  • Nice Decor and Food 2012-03-12

5 of us on a casual team lunch on a friday afternoon. The decor is really soothing and feels like inside of a houseboat...We ordered the malabar fish curry and also the the tangy one with kokum...i think its called machhikattu...both were very well prepared with right amount of spices and a decent portion of the fish.We also ordered chicken and prawn biryani...mildy spiced and yummy. I never like the idea of restaurants advertising they specialize in a certain cuisine and the menu ends up with the usual north indian and chindese food.. But these guys seem to have the kerala stuff pretty authentic... read more

  • Overall a great food experience 2012-02-29

Last Sunday was my second visit to Kumarakom…..I love the food. This time I tried the Mini Sadhya. It was just superb. First time I’m having a hot steamy kerala rice …tried the nadan Chemeen ulathiyathu, it was really really tasty. I recommend this dish. Also tried the home made dessert made out of Jackfruit it was my first experience and it was very good…..I feel service can improve a bit..I had to wait for 20 minutes to get a table….it was crowded….overall a great experience

  • Never again. 2012-02-28

    Food 4/10.
    Ambience 3/10.
    Service 1/10.
    Value for money 6/10.

Service wasn’t great, despite the fact the place was almost empty. The food itself is bland, of the three meals my friends ordered they all tasted the same and we found ourselves hunting out elsewhere to bring some flavour to the meals.

I'm a regular visitor to Kumarakom....I love the ambiance( typical Kerala architecture) and the tasty food. Have tried most of the dishes. I must say Kumarakom is moderately priced (definitely not cheap)...a great place for families and have taken many of my customers there.....it's worth the money

  • try kairali for authentic food not here.. 2012-02-14

the reviews seem to deceive me and the prices are steep fo wat they serve. Needlessly overpriced and inconsistent food.

  • Great place for Kerala food in Bangalore 2012-02-11

We have been to Kumarakom many times now. Its the place to go for authentic Kerala ( Kottayam style ) cuisine.
Perfect lacy 'appams, Beef ulathiyathu, Karimeen Pollichathu, Duck Roast, Sadya with delicacies like Ayiyal, Pachadi etc and yummy ada payasam... not to forget the staple food Kerala Parottas....the list goes on.
The fourth floor hall with Kerala style architecture is perfect for parties with a lovely ambience.

  • Mallu food for Vegetarians too... 2012-02-07

Last night went to Kumarakom with my friends…..Heard about this place from my friends and read the reviews at Burrp too. I’m from north and a hardcore vegetarian and my expectations regarding choice of menu was limited in a mallu restaurant. But I was thoroughly impressed with the stuff I had. As expected choice of dishes were limited…but the taste was superb…the taste still lingers in my mouth.

I had Appam(it was really soft) Veg stew, Kerala Porotta and curry made of tomato…was really yummy….The friendly staff at Kumarakom explained in detail how each dish is prepared. they even took
