  • A must try 2012-01-26

Mangalorean cusine, traditional setting, efficient service and nothing is over the top. This restaurant does justice to the cuisine and value for the buck. The fish curry and the kane fry is great.

The quality has really gone bad, had been there a year back and had thoroughly enjoyed the food but when i stepped in there the other day was really disappointed. The prawn thali was truly tasteless , was accompanied with 4 extremely small pieces of prawn wit the worst vegetable ever "JERKINS" , the payasam sucked it was boiled rice floating in sweetened milk and the prawn curry had no salt with just TWO pieces of prawn !!!!!!! horrid ....even the prawn biryani was bad...it you truly love seafood please do not go there !

Had a wonderful meal at Kudla. The menu has a traditional variety. I looked only for the cuisine that they are good at. The food was as authentic as I could imagine. The service was very friendly and efficient. Overall a great destination for Mangalorean food.

  • Burrp!! Completely satisfied. 2011-02-14

First place I would recommend to any friend of mine, if they are from North India or if they ask for Spicy South Indian Non veg. Nothing beats a coastal cuisine spread & Kudla is the place to go.
Authentic preparation, as I have visited Mangalore many a times too. Their kokum drink to start with, & Ragi Gassi (Local speciality dessert) to end with is must. In between, the starters and main course, can be anything from the Menu.

I must however remind my Veggie foodie friends, you might find the Veg spread rather limited. But their VEG Thalis, am told is good too (never tried that

  • Mangalore via Mumbai 2010-08-05

We live in Mumbai, and besides having the [dubious] privilege of doing so also have the privilege of having at least 5 Manglorean restaurants to choose from. Trishna, Apoorva, Mahesh and the ultra expensive Konkan Cafe are the 5 that come to mind. After aperitifs at the I Bar at the Park Hotel, our hosts, at our request, took us to Kudla, a Manglorean Restaurant somewhat closer to Mangalore [both in spirit and distance] than the 5 in Mumbai are.

Much fun was had by all. Luckily the do serve beer which kept our throats well lubricated. A lot of food was ordered. While the Rava Fry Kane

  • Probably the best Mangalorean eatery 2009-12-07

A lot of reviewers seem to agree with me here. YOu see, Mangalorean cooking is a funny one.

It just does not taste the same when it is cooked anywhere else apart from the good old coast. That is what I have seen before.

Thanks to Kudla, I can now eat good Anjal Fry and Kane Curry not to mention Kori Gassi right here. This is a really good place

I still think they can reduce the spice and tamarind ( huli) though. Having said that I am not nit-picking here.

As we say out there in Mangalore ( incidentally Kudla is the actual name of Mangalore for those who dont

  • Great ... 2009-12-02

A friend of mine and his wife (both from Manglore/Konkan) suggested this place and took me there on my recent trip to India. I must say that this place exceeded my expectations - we had the Crab Masala, the Prawns Platter and some fish curry with Appam. Everything was excellent and well worth the trip we made. For around 2.5K for 3 people - I think this was quite a decent place and I will highly recommend it. (of course we had some desert as well).
    Way to go Kudla ....
