Cringing, craving, bingeing, braving... you always have an opinion on what's hot and what's not in your city and we just love to hear it. Besides, there's no better place to satiate that itch to bitch!
P.S. - I should have read the reviews here to know about North Karnataka meals..whatever that is!
Pass this place almost everyday but somehow never appealed to try it out even if its big. I went once to have some kind of a juice and the service and overall attitude was so lazy by the staff, I didnt feel like going again!
But this time there was a lot of crowd for dinner, so decided to check out!
Menu is quite big and prices quite reasonable in my view.
What we ordered -
1 South Indian Thali 1 Idli 1 Rava Onion Masala 2 Cold Coffee
Lovely quality of Jowar roti and dishes from North Karnataka. The service is standard kamat style (poor), but then the food more than makes up for it. Do not expect fine dining.
No pizza or pasta or roti or butter chicken can satisfy a truly South Indian palate like good South Indian 'meals'! And the North Karnataka meals pack quite the punch! I am not sure about the authenticity, but the taste is simply delicious and fills the heart and the stomach. I am a frequent visitor here and I drag all my non-believer friends to this place and every one of them has left satisfied and feeling super good! Give this a try for sure!
Had been asking(nagging) the owner to start the North Karnataka meals soon. He starts just when I had to been in Hyderabad for 3 months. Tried it immediately on return. The Jolad roti oota (meals) is pretty decent. @ 120 for a regular it is quite a steal. The special(havent tried) gets you holige, iceream and mirchi bajji.(dunno the cost). The food is not 100% authentic but is close. The food is toned down in terms of spicy and kadakness :) of the roti. The sambar (saaru) though was very typical and tasted great. @Staff:: courteous but not that efficient. @decor: nice..thumbs up for the... read more
Try the authentic north Karnataka jola(maize) plantain leaf meals on the third floor. It's simply yummy. The place being spacious allows one to have a relaxed meal as compared to the other kamat outlets serving this cuisine. Go for it and u will defn not complain
Kamat was the go-to in the 90s for a good South indian meal and the new one opened at Koramangala is no different. Excellent South Indian thali which is the right thing for a hearty lunch. The curries taste great the the buttermilk is very refreshing. The sweet beeda (paan) given at the end provides the right parting touch. The service was good the first time we went but wasn't great the second time round. The waiters kept getting confused between the special/regular thalis and we had to correct them quite a bit. But the overall experience is good.
Kamat Swad serves good home-like veg thali meals in the afternoon. A banana leaf is spread on the plate and a normal thali inclues rice, two chapatis, sambar, rasam, 1 dry sabzi, 1 curry, papad and pickle. Both service area and self-service is available.
Overall good experience and nice ambience, would love to go back again.
