Meenakshi , that was a great review.
Couple of updates/things you missed.
As the Jayanagar lease has lapsed, Kadambam's location is now Putanna Chetty Complex ,Vani Vilas Rd , ( near the Ramakrishna Mutt ) Basvangudi. It has both indoor , outdoor seating , the same old Tanjore paintings , the scrubbed walls, and good parking around .
A few not to miss dishes:

For authentic Iyengar cuisine 2007-02-16
Don't expect any frills whatsoever. In fact don't even expect to get seating. This tiny but popular South Indian vegetarian restaurant specializes in true-blue Iyengar cuisine. Some benches and tables make up the seating, and the place is packed most of the time. Be prepared to wait. But since there is no lingering as such (you go there to eat - not to soak in the atmosphere), you will probably find a place pretty quickly.
Absolute best bets are the puliyogare (the tamarind rice), the kanjeevaram idlis and the fantastic, melt-in-the-mouth best-ever sakkare or sweet pongal.
