  • Good stuff! 2012-01-20

Herbs & Spice has its branches in Indiranagar, Whitefield & Palace Cross Road in Bangalore. Years ago, I had visited the Whitefield branch which is a quaint old villa & it was a lovely experience eating out there. I don’t remember what I had then but it was pretty good stuff. The cuisine here is European.

We visited the Indiranagar branch in the evening around 7:30 p.m. and it was empty. The place started filling up after 8:00 p.m. with the usual mix of couples, big groups of friends, and expats. The ambiance is very pleasant with a laid-back look, very much like a restobar. For the sports fans, they have a big projector screen set up on one side but the sound does not overpower. There is also a bar area near the entrance for those who do not fancy the food but drop by only for a drink.

On getting a cosy corner table, we were offered the drinks & food menus. By the time we could decide what we wanted to eat, the server arrived with the complimentary bread basket with a margarine and herbs dip. The bread was fresh & warm, the dip was creamy & finger-licking good.

Since we arrived early, we decided to go for a starter along with the drinks. So we ordered the Olive Chicken along with Vodka for my husband & Long Island Ice Tea for myself. The starter & drinks arrived in about ten minutes. And boy! I was bowled over the by the presentation & delicious flavor of the chicken. It was cooked perfectly and the olive in the middle added to the tanginess.

After this yummy starter, we scanned the menu for the main course. After much deliberation on whether I should go for the Prawn ravioli tossed with wine, tomatoes, olives and capers or the Grilled fillet of Fish on a bed of spinach and a balsamic vinaigrette, I decided on the Spinach & Mascarpone Risotto and hubby took a fancy for the Beef Steak.
